I invite you to join me and the World Council of Churches hosted by Jerusalem leaders.

The United Church of Canada has shared an invitation to Prayer and Light, tonight, joining in the Day of Prayer and Fasting hosted by the Jerusalem Heads of Churches. United Church households and congregations are invited to unite in prayer by lighting a candle at 3:30pm Pacific / 4:30pm Mountain and, if you wish, post a picture of your Light on social media with your own prayer in the caption, and with the hashtags

Amen.

It was such a pleasure to be part of the multicultural festival last weekend. Here are some photos and memories of the big event. It is always such an honour to help organize this. I was far behind the scenes for this year but I am so glad we were able to honour Gwen (Ma) Harry who began this event Thirty years ago when the peace bus came into town.

Join us for our annual multicultural festival. We have held this online the last few years and are happy to be back in person. A beautiful time to get together and share and celebrate the diverse cultural and faith expressions in our community.

On the stroke of midnight tonight, you can resolve to be better, if you like…
to be fitter,
to eat cleaner,
to work harder.

On the stroke of midnight tonight,
you can resolve to become a whole new you,
if you so choose.

Or, you can take a moment to acknowledge, all you already are.
Because it’s a lot.
You’re a lot.

And you deserve to be commended.

On the stroke of midnight tonight, perhaps you could congratulate yourself, for coping.
For breaking, again,
and for rebuilding, again.

For catching the stones life has thrown at you,
and using them to build your castle that little bit stronger.

You have endured, my friend.

And I don’t see the need to resolve to become a whole new you,
when you are already so very much indeed.

Happy new year.

You made it.

Now let us face another 365 day-turn, arms wide,
accepting, embracing and ‘seeing’ each other,
for all we are..

Today was a day filled with overwhelming gratitude. I arrived at my office to find 100 brand new stuffed animals and a whole case of pez and two cases of other candies and then… the Battle of the Businesses Squamish total came in. As I sat in conversations with families in need today I knew that life won’t be easy but this community has joined together to say “no matter who you are we love you and want you to experience the spirit of love this Christmas”
