📣 We are excited to share that five full-time spots are now open for children aged 37 months up to 5 years at Brave Hearts Day Care! 🧸✨

Our program accepts children up to age 5, or until the child starts full-day Kindergarten, whichever comes first.

Here’s how the process works:
📍 These five spaces will be filled on a first‑come, first‑served basis — meaning the first five families who:

1️⃣ Email [email protected] - please read carefully below before emailing
2️⃣ Receive and agree to our Policies & Procedures
3️⃣ Complete a short interview
4️⃣ Submit one month’s tuition deposit (non-refundable)
…will secure a spot for their child.

👉 At this time we are not creating a wait list, but we do plan to in the future — and will post about future wait-list openings when they become available.

Important Information for Families before emailing, please note:
✔ Full-time care only — we do not accept part-time spots.
✔ Even if families request part-time hours, they are still responsible for paying the full-time tuition.
✔ One month’s tuition is due up front, prior to the start date, and is non-refundable to secure your child’s enrollment.
✔ Provincial childcare program funding (including the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative / $10-a-day programs) is not guaranteed. Families should be prepared to pay the full fees unless and until official funding approval is received.

How to Know If All Spots Are Filled:
If you email and do not receive a reply within two weeks, this means that all five spots have been filled.

✨ Gentle Reminder from Brave Hearts Daycare ✨

We wanted to share a kind reminder that we are not accepting families for our waitlist at this time.

We are still in the process of hiring an Early Childhood Educator to join our team, and until that position is filled, we aren’t able to confirm start dates or enroll families—including our waitlist. As soon as we have found the right fit, we will make an announcement and begin welcoming families to join our waitlist and program.

As new parents who need affordable childcare in order to return to work, we deeply understand the urgency so many families are feeling. We want to be part of the solution. This journey has been an uphill battle, but we are dedicated to moving things forward as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share where I am in the process of opening Brave Hearts Day Care. To meet provincial licensing requirements, my next step is hiring a qualified Early Childhood Educator (ECE). Because of this, we aren’t accepting families or a waitlist at this time. I’ll notify everyone as soon as an ECE has been hired.

Brave Hearts was born from our family’s own challenges, and from seeing firsthand the difficulties other families face in finding childcare. It showed me how important it is to have programs that follow provincial guidance and offer safety, connection, and meaningful learning. That vision shaped Brave Hearts—a warm, beautiful, engaging space where children can grow.

Before shifting careers, I worked in childcare and was accepted into the ECE program at Camosun College. That experience strengthened my respect for educators and my commitment to supporting them. To do that, I’m offering above-average wages, full benefits, flexible hours, more than standard vacation, and annual funding for professional development.

Hiring an ECE is our final step. Communities across B.C. are feeling the shortage, but I’m hopeful we can find the right fit together. If you know a licensed ECE interested in relocating to Smithers, I’d love to connect. Rental options may be available. I can also explore solutions with Licensing if I find an ECEA who is actively working toward their certification.

Brave Hearts Day Care Inc. is a new child care provider in Smithers BC, undergoing licencing review to obtain an multi-age child care licence, as per the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, overseen by the Northern Health Authority Licensing Office.

Our child care program is rooted in a child-centered, play-based approach that fosters the holistic development of each child—socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment that supports all children, including those with diverse needs, where children can learn through play, exploration, and social interaction.

We recognize the importance of relationships—with families, the natural environment, and the wider community—and actively support healthy attachments and responsive caregiving.

Our program is guided by the principles of BC’s Early Learning Framework and will operate in full compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Child Care Licensing Regulation, under the oversight of the Northern Health Authority.
