FSIN Press Conference

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) gather today, Monday, May 25, 2026,
and calling for Justice for Jaali, to honor the life of a young mother whose death was
both tragic and deeply preventable. Jaali was more than a name - she was a daughter, a
mother, and loved by everyone that knew her, whose life was cut short by circumstances
that should never have been allowed to unfold. Her passing is not only a personal loss to
her family, but a painful reminder of the gaps in health care, accountability, and
protection that continue to put lives at risk. We believe that with proper attention, timely
intervention, and respect for her dignity, Jaali could still be here today. This press
conference is not only about mourning her loss, but about demanding answers,
accountability, and meaningful change - so that no other family endures the heartbreak
of an unnecessary death that could and should have been prevented.

On Mother’s Day, we honour the Mothers of our families and Nations—our mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and kokums—who carry our histories, values, and teachings forward.

You are the heart of our families and the strength of our communities. Through your love, patience, and resilience, you nurture not only children, but generations. You hold our languages, guide our ceremonies, and ground us in our identities. Your leadership, whether quiet or bold, shapes who we are and who we are becoming.

We recognize the sacrifices you make, the wisdom you share, and the care you give even in the face of hardship. Your role as caregivers, protectors, and knowledge keepers remains sacred and essential.

Today, and every day, FSIN expresses deep gratitude and respect for the matriarchs who continue to uphold our Nations, inspire healing, and light the way for future generations.

Happy Mother’s Day. You are honoured, you are valued, and you are loved.

Heartbreaker to close out the tournament for Team Sask Females at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, as Alberta found the back of the net with less than 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd period.

Despite the tough finish, our girls battled hard all week long and officially wrap up NAHC with a 5th place finish.

Congratulations to all of our athletes, coaches, and staff on an excellent week of hockey, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. Thank you for representing Saskatchewan with pride both on and off the ice. 💚🏒
