For many people, living a more sustainable and communal lifestyle is a big part of their future vision. But there are many tiny (and then bigger) steps to get there. What community model suits you best, what skills and attitudes need to be prioritized, and what your community role could look like all take some time and experimentation to understand.

A single community can't meet the desires of everyone out there, but there are many different types and the right one for the step you're on does exist. Of course, we'd love to have you be part of the Forest Gardens team, but we do encourage people to look around. See what's out there. Choose the one that seems the best for you. Then jump in! It's bound to be the learning experience of a lifetime.

A season apprenticeship on a farm is a great way to test the waters. Once you're done your research, getting hands on experience helps dig deeper into what you want and need. Staying on from Spring to Fall allows you to see the seasonal shifts and how they impact the work flow when living close with the land.
