📚✏️ School Supply Fee Reminder — $30 ✏️📚
Mrs. Roy our principal and Mrs. Ricketts our admin.assistant have been busy throughout the summer shopping and hunting for the best deals on school supplies! They have filled carts and the back of their cars! 🛒💜
Our goal is to save our families both time and money. Thanks to generous donations from our community partners, we are once again able to keep our School Supply Fee at just $30 per student. This covers the supplies students need to start the year and allows us to replenish them throughout the school year as needed.
💜 A little note about the fee: We purchase all of these supplies in advance, in good faith that families will pay their school supply fee. Your payment really does matter — it allows us to continue offering this program, buying in bulk, finding the best deals, and keeping the cost as low as possible for everyone. Thank you for helping us make this work!
The only additional items we ask families to provide are:
👟 Sneakers
💧 Water bottle
🍎 Lunch bag
🎒 Need a book bag? Don’t buy one yet! We will have FREE book bags available at our Open House for families who need one.
The $30 School Supply Fee can be paid through Cashless Schools Online.
One less shopping list for our families — we’ve got the pencils, crayons, glue sticks and all the rest covered! 💜🤍⚓

Last Day of School! ☀️
One of the funny things about June is that, on days like today, if you looked at a picture of a place you know, it can be hard to tell whether it’s June or September—the last and first days of school can feel so similar!
Today, we say goodbye—not only to our graduating Grade 8 students as they move on to their next exciting chapter, but also to all of our students heading into summer, including those who will be continuing their journeys at different schools in the fall. You will all be missed greatly.
The heart of our school lives in that sense of continuity—on a September morning that may look much like today, we’ll be ready to welcome back our returning Clippers with open arms, while proudly cheering on our Clipper Alumni wherever they may be.
Thank you to our wonderful staff for their dedication in making this year such a success, and to our families and community for the support that helps shape who we are as a school.
Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer! 🌞💙

Our Middle School came together this afternoon for a special social as our Grade 8 students prepare to say goodbye. 💙
Our oldest Clippers enjoyed a meaningful slideshow celebrating their time at SJBKE, sharing memories, laughter, and reflections on their journey together. It was especially heartwarming to welcome Ms. Hunter and her new son, who joined in the celebration.
We are so proud of each of you as you mark this important milestone. Once Clippers, always Clippers! 💫

🎓 Graduation 2026 🎓
The time has arrived for our Grade 8s! Tonight, we had the privilege of watching them take that final step across the grass, moving from our care into the next exciting chapter of their lives.
The road to this moment has taken many paths. For some, their journey began here as Kindergarteners. Others joined us along the way, and some even left for a time before finding their way back home to SJBKE. No matter the path, we are so grateful to have been a part of their story.
Today is filled with joy as we celebrate the incredible young people they have become—growing from the children we first knew into confident individuals ready for high school and all that awaits them. Alongside that joy, there are a few tears too, as saying goodbye is never easy—especially when it’s a place that has meant so much for so long.
Thank you to our Middle School team and all who put so much into this lovely ceremony- Mrs. Belyea, Mrs. Little, Ms. Hunter (who showed up with a new son in tow!) Ms. Gaur, Mr. Robichaud, Mr. Loughery and Mrs. Roy, Ms. Hughes, Ms. Harley, Ms. Dupere, and many others. Thanks to our wonderful Admin Mrs. Ricketts for getting the pieces together for walking tacos, to Tara Leblanc our PSSC Chair and her helpers for serving the lovely candy table tonight. Finally thanks for our friends from the TRC for coming and having a table ready for our grads- it’s such a comfort to know you’re there offering them the wraparound services they’ll need as they go ahead.
To our graduates: remember, you will always be Clippers. We will always care about you and want to hear about your journeys. Stop by to visit, live your lives to the fullest, and keep your Clipper ship sailing strong!
Congratulations, Class of 2026! 💙⚓

Another amazing year of Jump Rope for Heart is in the books at SJBKE! ❤️
For the second year in a row, our Clippers wrapped up this special event with our now much-anticipated tradition: raising money for research… and pieing staff members in the face! 🥧
Throughout last week, students put their energy to work in gym class, jumping rope and tracking their reps to help raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. As an extra incentive, some very generous staff members volunteered to take a pie in the face once fundraising goals were reached—much to the delight of students!
In just one week, our school community raised an incredible $2600! That total meant five brave staff members stepped up to “make the sacrifice” and were pied in front of the entire school. It was loud, exciting, and full of laughter—an event our students (and let’s be honest, staff too!) absolutely love.
A big thank you to Mme. Johnston, Mr. Melles, Ms. Dube, Ms. Nickerson, and Ms. Shannon for being such great sports and helping create a fun, memorable moment for all—all in support of a truly important cause. Thanks to Ms. Morrison for some of these great pics, and huge thanks to Mr. Loughery for organizing this always fun event!
We are so proud of our Clippers for their effort, generosity, and spirit! 💙

🎨 Our Beautiful New Mural!
Many of you have likely noticed the stunning new artwork panels recently installed on our St. James Street façade outside the gym, in the tall white window spaces. These were completed at the beginning of the month and represent a truly special project and collaboration for SJBKE!
Last fall, we were approached by our friends at the Saint John Community Foundation and the Saint John Arts Centre about hosting a piece of public art on our school. The mural commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Community Foundation, celebrating this milestone and all they have achieved—made even more meaningful because the artwork was created by SJBKE students themselves!
Under the direction of the incredibly talented artist Abi Rinehart, 19 of our Clippers from Grades 1 through 8 worked throughout April and May—both on-site and at the Brickyard Creative (former St. John the Baptist Church). Together, they created eight 11-foot panels featuring vibrant colours, butterflies, and flowing designs that connect seamlessly across the entire mural. The piece was thoughtfully designed to fit perfectly within the original window spaces of our building.
Yesterday, we proudly held an official unveiling ceremony to celebrate this incredible achievement. Our student artists were honoured with completion certificates and each received a special artist kit to take home—a small token of appreciation for their creativity and hard work.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to bringing this project to life, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight—especially Abi Rinehart, Trisha from the Community Foundation, Rosella from the Saint John Arts Centre, and of course, our amazing student artists.
We hope our community enjoys this beautiful mural for many years to come! 💙🎉

Today at SJBKE, we had the pleasure of celebrating another important milestone for our students! While we’ve been highlighting our graduating middle school learners as they prepare to head off to high school, today was all about our amazing Grade 5 students and their “Moving Up” ceremony.
This special event marks the end of their elementary journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter as they transition into middle school. Whether they’re continuing here with us or moving on to new schools, we know these students are ready to take on all that comes next. We are so proud to have shared in this meaningful first milestone with them and to celebrate their growth, achievements, and bright futures ahead.
A big thank you goes out to our incredible team—Ms. Salmon, Ms. Johnston, Ms. Robinson, and Mr. Rouse, along with everyone else who helped make this event so memorable, with awesome and thoughtful stations that everyone enjoyed. You gave our students a truly special moment to shine!
Congratulations to our Grade 5s—we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish next! 🎉

With our Grad Dance, the journey forward truly begins. This evening was a wonderful way to celebrate the incredible year we’ve shared in Middle School and to mark an important milestone for our Grade 8 students as they prepare to move on to their next adventure.
The atmosphere was light, joyful, and filled with laughter as students, staff, and families all came together to enjoy the celebration. It was truly heartwarming to see everyone having such a great time!
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing organizers—Mrs. Little, Ms. Belyea, Mr. Loughery, Mr. Robichaud, Ms. Harley, Ms. Nadeau, Mrs. Roy, Ms. Ricketts, our dedicated Grad Dance student organizers, and the many others who lent a hand to make this event possible. Your efforts made the night unforgettable!
The Grad Dance is just the first of many celebrations for our wonderful students—some who have grown with us since kindergarten, and others who joined along the way. As you prepare for this exciting transition into the next phase of your life, we are so grateful you were able to share this special moment with us and hope you remember it always.
