Relational Horsemanship: Positive and Practical
Trail, Obstacle, Starting, Liberty and more. Scott's philosophy is simple: the horse only has one job.

It's a job the horse is instinctively great at and can take pride in. That job isn't to be submissive, obedient, nor does it require control. It can be assisted with a soft approach. That job is simply to follow. And thus, the onus is on us to inspire our followers; to provide them not only with the tools to do the job but provide exceptional leadership in a way they naturally understand it. In Sc

All kidding aside, we’re genuinely thrilled to have Shannen and Storm in our Partnership Workshop. Storm is a wonderful, thoughtful guy. Like so many horses, he simply missed out on the most important part of any training program: learning how to connect with people — how to trust them, follow them, and build real relationships. And learning how to manage pressure and anxiety through leadership he can rely on. That’s the piece we get to give him.

After the workshop today, we spent half an hour just working through the basics of saddling. Finding those little spots where he had questions, and showing him — clearly and calmly — that following us is always the answer. And this incredible horse just latched onto those thoughts. You could see him soaking it up.

I mentioned to Shannen that there’s something about eye contact with a horse that goes deeper than almost anything else. It's truly a soul-to-soul connection we can capitalize on. Storm shows that in spades. When we connect like that, when we become a safe place for him, he steps up with confidence and courage. It’s already inside him — we’re just helping him uncover it.

And watching these two together, it’s obvious: they’re on the path to a truly wonderful relationship.

What’s your compass?
Out here, navigation is part skill, part awareness, and part adventure.
We dive into maps, compasses, GPS apps, and the art of reading the land — then turn you loose on fun, twisty backcountry trails to put it all together.

You might get a set of coordinates.
You might get a clue.
You might get a geocache hidden somewhere in the hills.

Your job?
Figure out how to get there with your horse, your wits, and the tools you’ve learned to use.

It’s challenging, it’s addictive, and it’s one of the most fun parts of Trail Mastery.

Introducing Vivien — our summer helper from Germany and the newest member of the 7 Tails chaos crew. She’s got her own horse back home, she rides beautifully, and she slid right into our goofy ranch life like she was born for it.

Today she took Jerry out for a spin, testing his confidence, his athletic abilities, and his absolute commitment to mowing every patch of grass he can reach.

They looked great together.
We’re lucky to have her.

Rider: “Hey buddy, I know you’re a 1,200‑pound flight animal, but could you just stand perfectly still while I throw this random object at a bucket?”

Horse: “We carry you, we trust you, we tolerate your rope tricks — and now you’re playing fetch with gravity. Truly, we are saints.”

Ron and Yogi show off on the ball toss game. This group got more balls in the barrel than any in history!

What happens if you push the mysterious button in the middle of the bush?
Maybe nothing.
Maybe everything.
Maybe you wake up in a hatch from Lost wondering why there’s a horse staring at you like you caused all this.

But around here?
Pushing the button means stepping into our October 8–11 Partnership Clinic — the final clinic of the season — where connection gets deep, the work gets good, and the woods get… well… Halloween‑ish.

Expect surprises.
Expect tricky fun.
Expect the kind of moments that make you laugh, think, and wonder who hid that button out there in the first place.

Last clinic of 2026. October 8–11.
Push the button.
See what happens.

Thanks S5 Powersports Inc. 😁
We picked up our new ride today and took it for a spin!
This is going to be such an asset to the ranch and long overdue after we sold our old one months ago.
And things we'll need in the winter - like a windshield! Heat! Stereo lol!
