🌟 A New School Year Begins at RHDS🌟

The countdown is on, and before we know it our hallways will once again be filled with the energy, excitement, and laughter of students. As we prepare for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, we wanted to share a few important updates and reminders with our RHDS families.

🚌 Arrival: 8:25 AM
(Staff supervision and bus arrival begin at this time. Please do not drop students off before 8:25 AM.)

📚 Classes Begin: 8:45 AM

🍎 Lunch: 11:45-12:45 for all grades

🏠 Dismissal: 2:45 PM

📱 Attendance & Absences

Families are encouraged to use the free SchoolMessenger App to report student absences. You may also contact the school office directly if your child is leaving early.

🚌 Transportation Reminder

Students who are new to RHDS and require bus transportation must have transportation requested by their family, as it is not assigned automatically.

As one school year begins, we also take a moment to recognize staff members who are embarking on new adventures. We extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Laura Daborn, Jon Gordon, Holly MacDonald, Ryan Arndt, David Dickinson and David Harrison.

We would also like to thank Principal Sean Ethier for his leadership and dedication to RHDS as he moves into a new role for the year. We wish him all the best!

The Back to School FREE Community Clothing Market is BACK! 🤩 This year it will held at Amherst Regional High School on August 27, 2026 from 10am-2pm! 👕👖 This event is open to EVERYONE!

We need DONATIONS of all sizes - from newborn to plus size! Donations can be dropped off at Anchor Youth Space Cumberland or Nova Scotia Works CANSA during their business hours from July 2 to August 17 or at community drop off dates at Amherst Regional High School on July 7, 21, August 4 or 18 from 9am-12pm!📦

Starting Thursday, July 9th, the Summer Jam Basketball Camp is back at the River Hebert Community Centre!
We’re excited to welcome kids ages 5-12 for fun, skill‑building, teamwork, and plenty of summer energy!

Registrations can be done via: Direct message here through our page, calling the centre's phone number (902-251-2512) during open hours, or contacting Jackson / Reese directly.

Admission is FREE for members of the Centre ($12/mo individual, $24/mo family), or $4/day for non-members. Admission can be paid at the door.

Parents/Guardians will need to sign a waiver specific to this camp. Please show up a bit early on the first day to do so.

Lots of awesome prizes will be awarded throughout the summer to help make every camp day fun, exciting, and rewarding!
