On a crystalline −15 °C morning, dozens of Canada geese gather in perfect formation on the barely-frozen surface of Wascana Lake, their dark silhouettes etched against mirror-smooth ice that reflects the pale winter sky. In the distance, Regina’s modest skyline rises above a fringe of leafless trees, an understated reminder that wilderness and city share the same breath here.

Shot with a long telephoto lens on digital, the image is ruthlessly clean: razor-sharp detail, cool Nordic colour grading, and a hushed tonal range that feels like stepping into absolute silence.
