Today we’re featuring Maria Rachkova, who is cast as Sister Coral!
At Cornerstone Youth Theatre, we believe that theatre is about much more than putting on a great show. In the area of theatre, we see Yahweh God as Creator. Every song, dance, costume, set piece, and performance reflects the creativity He placed within humanity. As His children, made in His image, we have the privilege of creating, imagining, and bringing stories to life. 🎭💙

When we see creativity expressed through others, it reminds us of God’s love and the unique gifts He has placed in each person. Theatre gives students the opportunity to discover those gifts, develop them, and share them with the world in a way that inspires, encourages, and entertains others.

One of the truths we strive to teach through the performing arts is simple but powerful:

Today we’re featuring Nora Cozens, who is part of the wonderful Sea Kingdom cast!

One of the things that makes Cornerstone Youth Theatre unique is that we are truly a family-oriented organization. While the students shine on stage, it takes an incredible team of parents and guardians behind the scenes to make each production possible.

At CYT, at least one parent or guardian of every cast member serves on both a pre-show committee and a show-week committee. From costumes and sets to concessions, backstage support, ticketing, and countless other roles, our families work together to create an amazing experience for our students and our audiences. 💙🎭

The truth is, without the support of our families, we simply couldn’t produce the high-quality community theatre that CYT is known for. Parents are the backbone of our association, and we’re so grateful for the time, talents, and dedication they invest in making these productions a success.

Today we’re featuring Caleb Murray, who takes on the important roles of King Neptune and the Sea Captain!

Caleb is 16 years old and attends Iron Ridge Secondary Campus in Grade 10. When he’s not at rehearsal, he enjoys biking, video games, and anime. 🚴‍♂️🎮📺

Looking to the future, Caleb hopes to become a teacher while pursuing his passion for storm chasing as a hobby. 🌪️

When asked who he’d like to thank, Caleb shared:
💙 “I would like to thank firstly my parents for always supporting me through anything and everything. I would also love to thank my sister and my cousins for always being a beacon of light in my life. Another group I would be honoured to thank is my wonderful friends both from school and here at CYT. They have pushed me forward through every challenge and hardship and I am glad I can call them my friends.”

Today we’re featuring Natalie Warkentin, who is cast as both a Bird and an Urchin in this magical production!

One of the things that makes Cornerstone Youth Theatre so special is that our association produces at least one Broadway-style musical for the community each session. These large-scale productions give students the opportunity to perform in a professional-style theatre environment while learning what it takes to bring a full musical to life. From auditions and rehearsals to costumes, choreography, music, and performances, students gain valuable experience and create memories that last a lifetime. 🎭💙

Our productions are also a wonderful way for families and the community to come together and celebrate the incredible talent, dedication, and growth of our young performers.

Natalie has been working hard alongside the cast, and we can’t wait for audiences to see her bring energy and excitement to the stage!

Today we’re excited to introduce Olivia Collins, who is cast as Chef Luigi!

At Cornerstone, our training starts long before show week through our Cornerstone Studio Classes. These are studio-style theatre arts classes for students ages 6–18, running from September through May. In these classes, students build strong foundations in acting, singing, movement, and performance technique while growing confidence, discipline, and creativity in a supportive environment. 🎶🎭💙
Our studio classes are where so many of our performers develop their skills week by week—learning how to grow as artists while also building friendships and a love for the stage.
Olivia has brought so much energy and fun to rehearsals as she helps bring the world of The Little Mermaid to life!

One of the core values at Cornerstone Youth Theatre is training children in the performing arts. Through singing, acting, and movement, students are given real, hands-on experience that helps them grow their skills in a supportive and structured environment. From learning stage presence and vocal technique to teamwork, timing, and storytelling, every rehearsal is an opportunity to develop and refine their craft. 🎶🎭💙

Today we’re excited to introduce London Fleming, who is part of the magical Sea Kingdom cast!

London is 8 years old and attends Holy Family School in Grade 2. When she’s not on stage, she loves reading, watching TV, playing soccer, swimming, and doing gymnastics. ⚽🏊‍♀️🤸‍♀️📚

Her future dream is to become an actress one day!

One of the core values at Cornerstone Youth Theatre is providing positive, Godly role models for students. We believe that what happens off the stage matters just as much as what happens on it. Through mentorship, encouragement, and a Christ-centered environment, students are surrounded by leaders who point them toward confidence, kindness, integrity, and purpose. 💙

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Charlotte Tayler, who is cast as the Royal Announcer!

One of the values we treasure at Cornerstone Youth Theatre is developing a sense of community and fellowship. Theatre is about so much more than learning songs, dances, and lines. It’s about building friendships, encouraging one another, celebrating each other’s successes, and creating a place where young people feel they belong. Many of our students come for the theatre and stay for the friendships that become like family. 💙🎭

Over the course of a production, kids from different schools, churches, and backgrounds come together with a common goal. They learn to support one another, work as a team, and create something truly special together. Those relationships often become one of the most meaningful parts of the CYT experience.

Charlotte has been working hard alongside the cast and is excited to help bring the magic of The Little Mermaid to the stage!
