We Are Hiring!!
Full-Time Early Childhood Educator (ECE IT, ECE, or ECEA)

Little Gems & Little Star Child Care Centre's are currently seeking a caring, energetic, and reliable Early Childhood Educator Infant Toddler (ECE IT), Early Childhood Educator (ECE), or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) to join our team immediately.

This is a full-time floating position between our Infant Toddler Centre and our Preschool 3-5 Centre, both located in Qualicum Beach. The successful candidate will enjoy working with children of various ages and be comfortable adapting to the needs of both programs.

Position Details
Start Date: Immediately
Location: Qualicum Beach, BC
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8-hour shifts with a paid break
Shift Times: Vary between 7:30 AM and 5:15 PM depending on centre needs
Wage: Competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience
Benefits
Extended health benefits available after 3 months of employment
12 paid sick days per year (including the 5 government-paid sick days)
Statutory holidays off
4 weeks of annual closure dates
1 week during Spring Break (March)
1 week at the end of August
2 weeks over the Christmas holidays
Vacation pay is accrued and paid out on each pay cycle at 4–6%, based on years of service in accordance with BC employment standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children
Plan and implement engaging, play-based activities that support all areas of child development
Foster positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
Assist children with daily routines including meals, toileting, rest time, and transitions
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
Support children's social-emotional development and guide positive behaviour
Participate in outdoor play, community outings, and field trips
Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety policies, and centre procedures
Work collaboratively with educators across both centres

Qualifications
Valid BC ECE IT, ECE, or ECEA Certificate
Valid First Aid Certificate
Criminal Record Check completed prior to employment
Knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexible and adaptable to working with different age groups and classroom settings
Passion for play-based learning and creating meaningful experiences for children

We are reaching out to our community for support.

Our daycare has proudly served families in Qualicum Beach for over 11 years. In the past two years alone, we have been forced to relocate three times due to circumstances beyond our control—and now, we are facing our fourth move in less than three years.

We have recently been informed that the Town of Qualicum Beach will not be renewing our lease at the Qualicum Commons building, effective June 30, 2026. This gives not only us, but all businesses within the building, less than three months to find new spaces and relocate.

As many of you know, finding suitable, affordable commercial space in the Qualicum Beach area is extremely challenging. We are urgently searching for a new location that will allow us to continue providing care for the 16 local families currently enrolled, as well as those who are planning to join us in the coming months.

If anyone in the community knows of available space, has connections, or can help in any way, we would be incredibly grateful for your support. Please feel free to reach out and share this post to help us continue serving local families.

This is a floating position, with shifts rotating between our Infant/Toddler Centre and our 3–5 Preschool Centre.

Little Star Preschool is seeking a warm, flexible, and dedicated ECEA or ECE to join our supportive team. This floating role supports both programs as needed. We are a play-based, community-focused centre serving children from infancy through age 5, with collaborative teams and strong educator support.
