In this video I m sharing the sewing projects I did the last week of August . I was gifted a nice vintage cotton tee-shirt and got the idea to make it more fitted and give it a twist . I also did the finishings and inserted elastics in the cuff pleats on a blouse I did last summer . What are you working on this days ? Any techniques or ideas you’d like to share ?

The “Design your own pants”workshop went so well that I am continuing the serie ! It was great to see students see how they can make the pants of their dream with ease . Coming up next is the Design your own top workshop happening August 8 and 9 in Port Coquitlam. We’ve got a few spots left for next weekend’s Design Your Summer Pants workshop .

If you’ve been wanting to learn to sew but didn’t know where to start, this class is for you. I’ll guide you through every step of designing the pair of pants you’re been dreaming of and by the end of the weekend you’ll leave with custom made trousers —and more knowledge to make more pieces at home.

Please meet Jan, one of our wonderful sewing instructors! 🧵✨ (Jan Bredenhof )

Jan’s sewing journey began when she was expecting her first child and received an old sewing machine. Armed with library books, thrift store finds, and plenty of determination, she taught herself to sew clothing for her children and beautiful items for her home.

Her passion soon expanded into quiltmaking—a craft she continues to love today. She later earned a Certificate in Sewing and Fashion Arts from Langara and has created everything from everyday tote bags to elegant prom dresses and even her daughter’s wedding gown.

For over 10 years, Jan shared her knowledge by teaching sewing at Credo High School in Langley. Today, she continues to inspire students of all ages, creating a fun, welcoming, and relaxed environment where everyone can build confidence and discover the joy of making.

We’re so grateful to have Jan sharing her experience, creativity, and love of sewing with the MAE Studio community! 🌸✨

Here is an extract of the Beginner garment making course -make the Gentiane top . It’s with great joy that I share the design I created with the idea of making a feminine and fitted garment , as a beginner . Usually you need more skills to create closings like adding a zipper or button tab but the Gentiane fit was made so you can pull it through and still get that adjusted waist fit that soften the silouette . enjoy watching !
