Our week at the garden was filled with activity and discovery. We enjoyed tasting both the radishes we planted and some self-seeding arugula. A few of the children were especially enthusiastic about the radishes!
There was plenty of digging in the Food Bank Plot, watering of flower pots and the blueberry patch, collecting fallen cherries and tinkering with the fairy garden. It was a busy and rewarding week for everyone.

The forest offers endless opportunities for free play. Imagination is the only limit -and with our kiddos, there truly are no limits! Cucumber bread, sleeping jail guards, magic beans, leaf-blowing are just a few of our memorable moments that emerged from their creative play.
Last week, we discovered a few little treasures tucked among the bees and wildflowers. The adventure included climbing giant boulders, exploring every nook and cranny, and uncovering some hidden gems along the way. So much fun!
There was a lot of going up and down at what we call 'Little Mountain'. Great for building strength and assessing risk.
Our Bluebells kiddos found some Bluebells and many other springtime flowers. Bluebells, Pacific Bleeding Hearts, Fairybells and Western Starflower.
Last week along the river. The children were keenly interested in building rivers and dams. They really worked collaboratively, remaining focused on their shared project for an extended period of time. Other children were equally engaged in rock painting, demonstrating sustained attention and creativity.

Spring has arrived, and it’s time to bring the garden back to life! In just one week, we went from soaking wet weather to bright, sunny days—perfect for getting outside. We’ve been busy digging, planting, and embracing all the messy fun that comes with it—muddy hands, muddy boots, and plenty of laughter. Between tending the soil and games of chase along the pathways, outdoor learning is in full bloom.

This week we continued our forest explorations climbing boulders and trees which helps build strength, coordination and confidence, while taking turns on the rope swing encouraged discussion, problem solving and cooperation. A lively game of "monster" with Ms. Charlene had everyone running, laughing and weaving through the trees - supporting physical fitness, spatial awareness and social connection.
We had the chance to visit a new location-and what fun it has been!
The children challenged themselves on the climbing rocks, building confidence and testing their balance and strength. We were also especially drawn to rocks this week, creating our own games, digging them out, and rolling them down the hill.
We even discovered a natural "playground" where we experimented with a teeter-totter. Some children worked together to figure out how to balance it and make it move up and down, exploring cause and effect through play and collaboration.
