Way to go, Hunter! 👏
BLACK RIVER FITNESS CHAMPION
As the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) continues with our “Movement is Medicine” campaign, we want to shine the spotlight on a young fitness warrior from the Black River First Nation.
20-year-old Hunter Nepinak is the new phys-ed teacher at the Nation’s school.
He’s also in the midst of completing his Bachelor of Education at Brandon University.
Along with his academic prowess, Hunter is an accomplished hockey player, which includes a one-year stint at the prestigious Indigenous Sports Academy in Saskatoon.
While there, Hunter learned the importance of exercise and nutrition when it comes to embracing a healthy lifestyle. Now, he is passionate about bringing those lessons to his home Nation.
SCO continues to support wellness amongst our young people. Be sure to visit our website at https://scoinc.mb.ca/knowledge-is-medicine/ to learn more about the pathways we have identified for healthy living.
Today, we honour Hunter Nepinak, and we say miigwetch for playing his part in promoting health and wellness for the students who attend Black River Anishinaabe School.
