Done with workshops for the semester, I’d say my first semester TAing was successful!
I’m lucky enough to be TAing for a course I’ve worked with many times before in various capacities but it’s my first time leading workshops. It can be intimidating to walk into a classroom being the one in the front leading everyone through the workshop. I’m used to dealing with only one or two students at a time in tutoring. It’s harder to tell if everyone is understanding the concepts with a larger group which had me worried about how well I was explaining things. Some students went out of their way today to thank me and it meant the whole world. Although the course material is familiar for me , everything else is new, so it’s been a learning curve. Some weeks the students were the ones to show me new features. It’s eye opening to have seen this course from this angle.
Still have some office hours and marking left before I’m off the hook for the term. But I can’t wait to be back in the classroom!

Hello friends! Big academic accomplishment for myself today! I presented my poster from my community based research project today which I completed in the fall!
My project was “Magneto Scale and Standardization”. I took digitized data from Natural Resource Canada’s magnetogram and by using coding in R and html, I wrote an algorithm which would create webpages for this data to make it globally available, so it can be used in future research. I not only made webpages for each days observed data files, I also created a parent page for each years data to make it easy to find and as a final task, an index page which would hold each years webpage!
Lots of new challenges I had to work through and new skills I had to learn, but such a wonderful and educational experience and I am very proud of myself!

Hello everyone!
First of all, I wanted to thank all my friends and family and anyone who helped share my business. I really appreciate every single one of you for that!
A frequently asked question is about my rates, so I though I would post them. Rates differ based on lesson type. In-person is available still to anyone within the Peterborough area, or who is able to meet in the Peterborough area. Zoom is available internationally. I also offer semi-privates if that is something that would interest you to study with a friend.
I do hope to be as accessible as possible so if these rates are not in your budget, please still reach out and we can try to work something out together!
Again, please feel free to reach out if you have questions. You can send me a message either here or on my Instagram (), by phone, or send an email to [email protected] 🙂

Hello everyone!
I thought I would this opportunity to share a bit about myself.
Here we go,
My name is Robyn Hawthorne, I am currently in my fourth year at Trent University studying Mathematics, specializing in statistics. Prior to this I was a student at Adam Scott CVI. In grades 11 and 12 I volunteered to help younger students studying in the math room over lunches. I have also been both a student tutor and academic assistant for various statistic and probability courses offered at Trent in the last couple years.
Some fun facts about me are that I love dance, in fact I was a dance teacher for 3 years at A. Frost Dance Experience! I also love singing and music!
I offer tutoring for students from grades 1-12 and even some first and second year university credits.
I am from Peterborough and offer both in-person and zoom lessons for those that are local. However, I have tutored students from all over, even in New Jersey via zoom.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me here, by phone/text or by my email!
