Last night the staff and board of the Naramata Childcare Society gathered for their Christmas party at Abandoned Rail Brewing Co.

If you haven’t been yet, it’s a great location with good beer, wine, ciders, non alcoholic drinks and the pizza and snacks were very delicious.

We really had a blast and now it’s time for a well deserved break for all!

Naramata Childcare Society: 3rd Annual Fundraising Festival Success! 🎉

Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting our 3rd Annual Naramata Childcare Fundraising Festival at the beautiful Manitou Beach, and what a day it was! ☀️ Blessed with perfect weather and a wonderful crowd, this event was a resounding success, filled with activities, food, and laughter for all ages.

From the moment the gates opened, visitors of all ages eagerly dove into the many exciting activities on offer. Bouncy castles and orb balls 🏰 kept the kids entertained for hours, while many tried their hand at paddleboarding with support from Sun 'n Sup 🏄‍♀️, or got creative at the craft table 🎨. The ever-popular face painting 🎭 added a splash of color to the day, with some fantastic designs appearing all over the beach!

We were fortunate to have DJ FriSatSun 🎧 providing the perfect soundtrack for the day, setting a cheerful tone with his upbeat tunes. In addition to the music, the Naramata Friendship Club 🌭 generously served up hot dogs for lunch, while Chef Jacob Deacon-Evans 🍽️ spoiled us for dinner with his delicious pulled pork and pulled mushroom sandwiches. They were joined by Baljit and his lovely wife from the Samosa Express food truck 🚚, whose fresh samosas were a huge hit.

One of the day’s highlights was the thrilling Exhibition Lacrosse Game 🥍. Organizer Del Halladay from Elephant Island took home the trophy this year 🏆, but the fun didn’t stop there. Del and many others later joined in the lively Karaoke session 🎤 hosted by the talented sisters, Michelle Youni and Jessica Okayama. It was a blast hearing so many voices take center stage, adding an extra layer of joy to the event.

Our beverage garden 🍻 was another hit, thanks to the support of Cannery Brewing, Neighbourhood Brewing, La Petite Abeille, Creek & Gully Cider, Elephant Island Wine, Fox & Archer Wines, and Happy Mom/Dad Seltzers. Their contributions kept spirits high and drinks flowing throughout the day.

The Results 🎉💰

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’re proud to announce that we raised $17,000+, with a net result of $12,000. These funds will go directly towards upgrading our programs and classrooms 🏫.

Starting this September, we’ve expanded our after-school program with a new classroom, allowing us to accommodate 37 children per day. By October, we will also be welcoming 20 children to our daycare program 🧒👶.

This event is so much more than just a fundraiser—it’s a community gathering that truly brings people together 💛. Seeing our neighbors, friends, and local businesses come out to support one another and enjoy the day’s festivities is a reminder of how special Naramata is 🌟.

Looking Ahead to 2025 🔜

We’re already thinking about next year’s festival, and we’re considering moving the date to August long weekend—Saturday, August 2, 2025. We’ll confirm the details soon, but we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback as we plan for an even bigger and better event next year 🎈.

If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend come check out the Naramata Childcare Society’s fundraising event! Saturday August 31st from 10am - 7pm with fun for all ages!

Starting at 10am until 3:30/4 there will be bouncy houses and orb balls, craft station, face painting, paddle boards, music and more!
At 1pm-3pm the Manitou Classic exhibition lacrosse game gets underway and can be viewed from the beverage garden!
Enjoy local wine/beer/cider/hard seltzers at our beverage garden 11am-7pm
Hot dogs from the OAP 11-2pm

This amazing fundraiser is for the non profit Naramata Childcare Society providing quality daycare, before and after school care and summer camps for our community.

🎉 Celebrating Success and Growth at Naramata Playschool Society 🎉

We are thrilled to share that our AGM last night was a resounding success! The turnout of dedicated parents, guardians, and caregivers showcased the incredible investment in the future of our Childcare Centre. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

In 2021, Jen Newton and I took on Board positions with a vision to bring positive changes to NPS. It's been an incredible and often times intense journey, and seeing our progress today makes it all worth it. 🌟

Back then, we had a small group with 5-8 children in our playschool and 8-10 in our KidsClub program. Today, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team, we now have 7 staff members, 16 full-time playschool kids, and 20 children in our KidsClub program. And the growth continues!

Starting September, we will welcome 4 more playschool children in the mornings and expand our KidsClub program by 17 children, thanks to hard work of Anouk and Holly and the collaboration with Mr. Redden, Principal of Naramata Elementary School. 📚

This expansion means we will be officially licensed for 57 children per day as of September, eliminating our waitlists (for now 😜). This achievement is a testament to the team effort and unwavering support from our parents, sponsors, volunteers, staff, and board members. The phrase "It Takes A Village," which I first heard from Miranda Halladay, rings true now more than ever. 🌍❤️

After 2.5 years on the board, Jen Newton has decided to move on. Jen, your hard work, dedication, and passion have been instrumental in our success. We will miss you greatly, but we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Thank you for everything you've done, and we hope to call on your expertise from time to time. 🙏💐

Lastly, we are excited to announce that on Saturday August 31, 2024, we will be organizing our 3rd annual Naramata Fundraising Festival! 🎪 and Del Halladay will be organizing the Manitou Lacrosse Classic. 🥍 It's promising to be another great day filled with lots of activities. Mark the date and if you can lend us a helping hand, please do let us know! 📅🙌
