Hi everyone,
It was great to get back out practising this week with some of our Black Belts and Deputy Black Belts! We’re excited to get the new Taekwondo season underway.
September Practices
Just a reminder that we will have Black Belt & Deputy Black Belt practice in Lucky Lake on Tuesday, September 15.
There will not be practice in Outlook on Wednesday, September 16, as Gord, Lisa and Brent are all headed in different directions that evening. Sorry!
We’re looking forward to having a full class of returning members starting September 22 & 23, and the following week of practice before we welcome new members in the first week of October.
There is no charge for the preseason practices in September.
Fees
Our regular fee schedule will remain the same as last year:
Semester 1 fees: due October 15
Semester 2 fees: due January 15
One new option this year is for returning Black Belts who are unable to attend regularly but would still like to join us when their schedule allows. A $20 drop-in fee will be available for these members only.
If you have an opportunity to promote Sask River Taekwondo in your community, please help spread the word and encourage others to come out and give it a try! We welcome new students ages 6+ as well as adults.
Helmets
For safety and sanitary reasons, we would like to move toward everyone purchasing their own their own helmet, this is in line with other clubs and sports.
We will be selling the club’s current helmets for $20 each, starting by offering to our highest belts and working our way down. If you are interested in purchasing one of the used club helmets, please let us know.
Our plan is to place an order for new helmets later in October. New helmets typically range from $60–$80, Helmets are an important part of keeping everyone safe during sparring.
Important Dates & Changes
Please take note of these dates, particularly the changes to our Outlook schedule due to school Christmas concert conflicts:
Wednesday, December 9: Outlook class will be held in Conquest rather than OES.
Monday, December 14: Outlook Christmas Testing at OES
Tuesday, December 15: Lucky Lake Christmas Testing
Saturday, May 15: Spring Testing
Our spring testing date has been moved because Grand Master Chung will be away in Korea. This means our season will be approximately two weeks longer than usual, but this change was necessary to work around Grand Master Chung’s schedule and ensure we can have him here for testing.
As always, you are welcome to attend both Lucky Lake and Outlook classes at no extra charge. We encourage our higher belts especially to take advantage of the extra practice time.
We’re really looking forward to another great year of Taekwondo with all of you! Thank you for your continued support of Sask River Taekwondo, and we’ll see you on the floor soon!
