Many families in Orléans and Ottawa ask us what learning looks like for children before school — especially for toddlers and young children who learn best through movement and exploration.

At BEACONS’ Early Learning Collective, we create calm, play-based environments where children explore through sensory materials, movement, and simple cause-and-effect experiences — with caregivers present and involved.

This is early learning rooted in relationship, not rush

Many parents exploring childcare options tell us they want to understand a space before committing.

That’s why our early learning programs allow families to experience our environment, philosophy, and relationships first — through caregiver-present play and enrichment.

For some families, this becomes the starting point for future care decisions.

🔍 Project-Based Enrichment for Homeschoolers

HomeRoots Circle is a project-based enrichment program for homeschoolers (ages 4–12).

Each session is intentionally designed around a shared inquiry and follows a clear learning cycle:

Play • Inquire • Create • Reflect

Exploration is purposeful, projects are iterative, and children are supported to develop ideas over time — not just try things once and move on.

🛠️ From Idea to Iteration

Projects at HomeRoots Circle are not one-off activities.

Children:

• explore a question or challenge

• develop and test ideas

• revise, extend, or redesign their work

• reflect on what changed and why

Facilitators guide the process through questioning, feedback, and material choices — supporting depth without taking over the work.

📐 Real Work, Real Thinking

During a session, children may:

• design and build models or systems

• investigate real-world concepts and patterns

• plan, sketch, measure, test, and revise

• document ideas through writing, diagrams, or visual explanations

This is hands-on, minds-on learning — where thinking is made visible through work.
