Sometimes the best activities need no prep at all. ☁️💛
On our walk, we stopped to look at the clouds and asked one simple question:
“What do you see?”
Suddenly we were finding animals, people, airplanes and all kinds of silly things in the sky. ☁️🦈✈️
Activities like this encourage observation, language, creativity and imagination — while turning an everyday walk into play.
Because at Vik’s Daycare… we don’t do boring walks. 🌿

🌿 We don't do boring walks!
Today we turned our regular walk into a little nature adventure by making nature bracelets. 🌼🍃
With just a piece of tape around each wrist, the children searched for tiny treasures to add as we explored.
Such a simple, no-prep activity, but so much learning was happening along the way — noticing little details, making choices, exploring different textures, using fine-motor skills and connecting with nature. 🔎🌿
Once our bracelets were full, I added transparent tape over the top to help keep our treasures in place.
Sometimes all it takes is one little idea to turn an ordinary walk into an adventure. 💚

When my son was little, he decided these big rocks were cars, and the game has stuck ever since. So of course, we had to go car shopping again. 😂
We tested all the models—one had a built-in cup holder, another came equipped with blinkers. Very high-end inventory over here. 😂🙌
Sometimes the best play really does come from simply letting kids use their imagination. 💛🌿

While our little friends rest, our older children enjoy a calm and engaging quiet time filled with creative activities that build fine motor skills, independence, and focus.
This week's quiet time included: 🪼 Jellyfish craft 🎨 Salt painting 🍁 Wikki Stix maple leaves 🖌️ Maple leaf painting ⭐ Monopoly travel game Playdough..etc
Every child has different needs, and we love creating a peaceful environment where everyone can learn, create, and recharge at their own pace. 💛

🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day from Vik's Daycare! 🍁❤️
Today was filled with creativity, laughter, and lots of little hands hard at work! We celebrated Canada Day by making marble-painted maple leaves, fingerprint flags, glitter fireworks, puffy paint art, and wax stick creations. We even decorated our own Canada Day display together!
Through every craft, the children practiced fine motor skills, creativity, sensory exploration, and took pride in creating something uniquely their own.
Wishing all of our daycare families a safe, happy, and fun-filled Canada Day! ❤️🤍

Today we kicked things off with red and white sensory play, block building, painting, and festive crafts. The children had so much fun exploring, creating, and learning through play.

Today started with water table fun and ended with three children completely fascinated by a sponge sliding down a wet window. 😂
They watched, waited, cheered, and laughed so hard every single time it reached the bottom. The kids sweet giggles were the best part of all. ❤️
A reminder that childhood magic doesn't need fancy toys—sometimes it's just water, a sponge, a window, and good friends.

Today we're celebrating all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures who make children feel safe, loved, and strong. ❤️
This week, our little artists turned their handprints and footprints into superheroes to show just how special their dads are. Because to a child, Dad isn't just a dad...
🦸 Fast as Superman
🕷️ Amazing as Spider-Man
🛡️ Honorable as Captain America
🦇 Brave as Batman
💚 Strong as Hulk
🐾 Protective as Black Panther
But most importantly, Dad is their superhero.

⚽🌎 World Cup Fever at Vik's Daycare! 🌎⚽
One of the things I love most about home daycare is celebrating the many cultures and countries that make our little group so special.
As the FIFA World Cup 2026 begins, our daycare families are cheering for different teams. Some are cheering for Canada 🇨🇦, some for Scotland, some for Tunisia, and our family will be cheering for Haiti 🇭🇹.
Today the children created Canadian flags with paint daubers and explored the excitement of the World Cup through art and conversation. Over the next few weeks we'll be learning about different countries, flags, and cultures while celebrating the beautiful game together.
No matter which team wins, we're all on the same team at daycare. ❤️

Today we: 🏃 Ran down a hill 🪨 Threw rocks in the river 🚦 Played Red Light, Green Light ⚖️ Balanced on curbs 🟡 Walked the yellow line 🌼 Picked flowers
What looked like play was actually balance, coordination, strength, focus, and self-regulation practice.
And the best part? We came home, played quietly, and happily headed off for nap time. 😅
