In honour of the FIFA World Cup 2026, our resource teacher, Mrs. Marcia Stephens is bringing Recess Cup to General Vanier Public School!
Students have been assigned teams from different countries, learning about sportsmanship, and exploring football player profiles as excitement builds for the first match on June 1.
Here are a few behind-the-scenes moments as we get ready. Everyone is feeling very excited! A special thank you to Mrs. Stephens for her ongoing contributions to our school community and for always creating initiatives that bring students together.

Love this Fail-a-bration banner hanging in the classroom...where students are learning that failure isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of something big. 💥💡
Failing is part of the process. It’s how we grow, learn, and eventually succeed.
Students shared moments where they missed the mark but came out stronger and wiser by adding sticky notes with their stories.
Let’s build a better relationship with failure. It’s not something to fear, it’s something to learn from. 💛
