I get immense pleasure out of capturing faces and landscapes (real or imagined), and sometimes allowing the paint itself to dictate the shapes and patterns that take hold on the canvas. The path back to our homeland can no longer be traced. Maps have long since been redrawn, and the footprints that marked our road to exile 74 years ago have been washed away by the cruel hands of those who came to displace us. May 15 marks yet another year of dispossession and exile for Palestinians. The day commemorating the 'Nakba' - the Catastrophe - is a painful reminder of a collective trauma, and a bittersweet anniversary of yearning for what once was, and may never be again....
