Important watch 🎬
Oil & Gas corporations have lied for decades about the effects of their activities on human caused climate change, but also on the lie of recycling saving us, and even more disturbing that (bpa free) plastics are safe.
Sythetic plastics are derived from the bottom of the barrel petroleum. They are cheap, they are effective for keeping costs low and profit margins high, but as we can see they are pervasive. They stay in our bodies and accumulate just as they do in our air, soil, and waters. The chemicals which go into the manufacturing process even with recycled polyester and other derivities are highly toxic. They do not deserve to be materials packaging our food, hugging our bodies, and certainly not in everyday textiles rugs, curtains, coffee pods, health care supplies, you name it!
There is an extreme amount of lobbying the industry puts money into to ensure governments like Canada continue to subsidize their dirty industry and any attempts from scientists and health organizations to move past petroleum based plastics quickly get snubbed out or have “whataboutisms”. The truth is if every attempt to scale out sustainable alternatives is stopped by oil and gas lobbyists, of course we can never move past it. That’s not a fault of common people or these incredible scientists, youth, and researchers, it’s a fault of the systems design and the system we continue to allow our politicians to perpetuate.
Just this past year conservative leader Pierre Poilievre advocated to remove the federal plastic phase out bill for grocery stores stating it would cost the consumer. The truth is it would not cost the consumer if we had government work towards subsidizing healthy and sustainable alternatives to plastic rather than working as puppets to the industry that is hell bent on harming people and planet in order to have unfettered profits.
A just and sustainable future is in reach, WE have to continue to fight for it, for now is the time of these monstrous industries trying to stay alive despite all the evidence and facts showing they should be taken off life support immediately. WE must choose our collective future over their collective greed. ✊🏼🌎

“Stalking”, “attacks”, “aggressive” – these negative and often sensationalized words perpetuate fear and unfair stigma around coyotes. These naturally shy, elusive animals prefer to avoid humans, and play a vital role in our ecosystem. For National Wildlife Week, we’re debunking some misconceptions around this misunderstood animal.
❌ Coyotes don’t belong in neighbourhoods and cities
Coyotes thrive in urban environments because their diet consists largely of small rodents – something cities have in abundance. It’s completely normal to see them in residential areas, parks, or even backyards. Highly adaptable, coyotes are able to adjust to increasing development – and were here long before our cities expanded.
❌ Coyotes “stalk” people
Denning season is underway, which means parents are more active as they provide for their young. During this time, they may keep a close watch on people in their territory – just as you may do if a stranger was loitering near your home! This behaviour is often misinterpreted as “stalking”, but better understood as “escorting” to ensure intruders leave without threatening their family.
❌ Pets and coyotes can’t coexist
As opportunistic hunters, small, free-roaming pets can resemble a coyote’s natural prey, and larger dogs may sometimes initiate conflicts with coyotes. Many incidents can be prevented with simple precautions. By supervising pets closely, keeping them on a short, fixed leash, and giving coyotes plenty of space, we can help keep both coyotes and our companion animals safe.
