2025–26 Killam Fellow Xavier Stephens, from Brock University and hosted at Oklahoma State University, took advantage of the Cultural Awareness Grant offered through the Killam Fellowships Program to deepen his exchange experience. It allowed him to explore cultural, historical, and natural sites across Oklahoma and Kansas, complementing his academic exchange with immersive travel learning.

Highlights included the Chickasaw Cultural Center, Turner Falls Park, Oklahoma City landmarks, Route 66, Kansas City museums, presidential libraries, and prairie preserves. The experience showcases how Killam Fellowships provide additional enrichment opportunities beyond traditional exchange study terms.

Killam Fellows can take their exchange even further through the Cultural Awareness Grant.✈️

For 🇨🇦 2025–26 Killam Fellow Trent Rapski (Brock University → University of Minnesota), this meant travelling to Houston, Texas to attend the World Baseball Classic—an experience that directly complemented his studies in Sport Management. While there, Trent also explored several museums, gaining a broader understanding of American culture, history, and the role of sport in society.
