~ Happy Advent Season~
Dear all, Happy first of Advent to all of you who feel drawn to celebrate this festive season. Now it finally feels like we are approaching the Winter Solstice and the various celebrations of many traditions and cultures marking the return of the sun here in the Northern Hemisphere. It is getting much colder and the nights are longer and darker. All of nature slows down, gets still and quiet and life seems to turn inwards.
No matter which tradition or culture you follow, maybe you would like to join the tradition of lighting candles over the four weeks coming up to the Solstice? I love doing this as a symbol of hope for the light to return once more after this period of darkness. Each Sunday another candle gets lit to invite the return of the sun and the warmth, light and life it is bringing to our planet. It is also a reminder to shine our inner light brighter and brighter each day into a world that might appear to be getting bleaker and darker at times...
Traditionally I create an Advent wreath for this time of year, but this year I wasn't prepared for it to come round quite as fast so I improvised my Advent arrangement with what I could find in and around the house... I collected evergreens, lichen, berries, pine cones and rosehips and arranged them on a tray. Then I fixed some tealights onto stones and placed them in the centre. Very quick and easy.
Maybe you would like to make one too and bring more light into your home during the darkest weeks of the year? It also warms the heart and the smell of pine, forest and candles is divine...
With lots of Love, Britta ❤

Tell your children stories, read your children stories. Author Ursula Le Guin reminds us "there have been great civilisations without the wheel, but there have been no civilisations that did not tell stories". Stories are an essential part of being fully human.
