Hi. I am a teacher from the OCDSB who has a wide range of experience from Spec Ed to ESL.

My approach to tutoring:

When teaching in Italy, I tutored three students across three grades -- each one with unique learning needs.

To accommodate their needs, I programmed their English language learning that best supported their work in the classroom.

For the student doing well in English, I developed a curriculum to move their language skills forward to increase fluency and boost their confidence.

For the student needing more practice, I helped them build their oral skills which led to increased phonemic awareness to help them build on fluency in reading.

Spent the last few weeks steeped in professional development on children's literacy and numeracy strategies. Supporting students who meet curriculum goals while filling in the gaps in learning for those who need extra support are examples of how I can meet individual student's needs.

Reach out to learn how I can help meet the unique needs of your child.

My name is Anuka and I am a teacher from the Ottawa Carleton District School Board with a wide range of experience, from Special Education to ESL to teaching abroad in a primary IB program.

I have been teaching for over 20 years and love building engaging programs around student interests and assists. Here are some ways I can help your k-8 student.

- I give one on one lessons online using Zoom or Google Meet. (if you are in Ottawa, I can teach in person).

- I can tailor learning to a variety of needs, from autism to global learning difficulties to a student who just a little extra support.

- I understand and can work with BIPOC students and newcomers.

- I can complement the work of speech therapists, occupational therapists, educational assistants, classroom teachers etc.

I would love to help your student be the best they can be!
