Le 2 octobre, nous avons officiellement lancé l'Institut de recherche en littératie des données! Un grand merci à nos partenaires, membres, collègues et étudiants pour leur enthousiasme et leur engagement. Nous sommes reconnaissants envers toute la communauté uOttavienne et nos collaborateurs externes pour avoir fait de cet événement un succès retentissant et qui embarquent avec nous dans ce projet interdisciplinaire.

En plus de l'allocution de Martine Lagacé, vice-rectrice associée, promotion et développement de la recherche, nous avons entendu les doyens et vice-doyens de chacune des facultés fondatrices : arts, sciences sociales, médecine et la bibliothèque, mettant ainsi en évidence le caractère véritablement interdisciplinaire de l'Institut. Le point culminant du lancement a été la conférence du professeur Iddo Gal de l'Université de Haïfa en Israël, dont l'expertise et les idées en littératie des données ont mis en évidence l'importance de ces compétences de nos jours.

Restez à l’affût pour des mises à jour, pour nos prochains événements et pour des possibilités de collaboration, car nous croyons qu’il y a vraiment de la place pour tout le monde à cette table.

On October 2nd, we officially launched the Data Literacy Research Institute! A huge thank you to our partners, members, colleagues, and students for their enthusiasm and engagement. We are grateful to everyone who joined us, not only to make this event a resounding success but who will be part of this interdisciplinary project that reaches across the uOttawa campus and beyond.

In addition to an address from Martine Lagacé, our Associate VP, Research, Promotion and Development, we heard from the deans/vice-deans from each of the founding faculties: Arts, Social Sciences, Medicine, and the Library, showcasing the true interdisciplinary character of the Institute. The highlight of the launch was a keynote presentation by guest speaker Professor Iddo Gal from the University of Haifa in Israel, whose expertise and insights into data literacy highlighted how critical these skills are today.

Stay tuned for updates, events, and opportunities to get involved … there really is room for everyone at this table!
