Thanks to a donation from ABADASA, Onoway Elementary students will be able to receive a free library card. This gives them access to books and resources all summer long. We are excited to work alongside Onoway Public Library to help foster a love of reading beyond the classroom and ensure students have opportunities to keep learning, exploring, and imagining throughout the summer months.
Let the summer reading adventures begin! 📚☀️

Our OES Grade 7 athletes represented our school with pride at the GCAA Zones Track Meet this week! 🏃♀️🏅 From the first event to the final race, they demonstrated incredible drive, perseverance, and determination.
Just as impressive was their outstanding sportsmanship! They were cheering each other on, supporting competitors, and giving their very best in every event. We are so proud of the way they competed and represented OES!

Our annual Staff vs. Students basketball game did not disappoint! 🏀 The Grade 7s came ready! Their fast breaks, tight defense, and plenty of hustle had the staff a little nervous 👀
But in the end… experience (and maybe a few old-school moves 😄) pulled through, and the staff held onto the win! Huge shoutout to our Grade 7 athletes for an incredible game full of effort, teamwork, and great sportsmanship!

Our Grade 6 scientists have been busy exploring photosynthesis this week! 🌿🔬 Students observed a demonstration testing leaves for the presence of starch, comparing one exposed to sunlight with another kept in the dark. The results were eye-opening as they discovered just how important light is for plants to make their own food! Amazing observations and thoughtful discussions all around!

On Monday, OES students, parents, and staff were treated to a nursery rhyme–filled performance. Mrs. Lapachuk’s Drama Club reimagined several family favourites, such as Old MacDonald and Humpty Dumpty - complete with the King’s Army - as well as some long-lost classics like Little Jack Horner, with his bright red thumb.
It was clear the cast had put in hours of rehearsal and shared many laughs along the way. Mrs. Lapachuk and OES alumna director Arabella brought out the best in the cast, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and deliver a fantastic show for all ages.
Well done, Drama Club—you were amazing!🎭
