Dear Parents & Guardians,
Welcome to the new school year! I am very excited to be joining the school community as your new principal. I look forward to working alongside our staff, students, and families to make this a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, and connection.
The first day of school will be a short day, giving everyone an opportunity to settle in, reconnect, and start the year on a positive note. Please see the schedule below for an outline of the day. I am looking forward to meeting you and your families and to a fantastic school year together!
Here is an overview of the plan for the first day: September 9th, 2026
School supplies cost is $45.00 and can be paid to your teacher. Please try to have the exact amount, as change might be difficult for us to provide. If you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to: Forest Grove Elementary. A receipt will be provided by the office as soon as time permits.
β’ Please send your child with a recess snack.
β’ Upon arrival, students will remain outside until the bell. Once the bell rings at 8:15 a.m., students are to find their assigned teachers on the field.
β’ Next, teachers will lead their classes on a walk around the field to start the year off in a good way. Students should stay with their class group during this time.
β’ After the walk, classes will return to their original meeting spot on the field.
β’ Mrs. Dixon will have a welcome message for students.
β’ Students and staff will then enter the building and proceed to their classes to settle in.
β’ The final bell for the day will ring at 10:40 a.m., and students will be dismissed. Buses will be waiting for students to take them home. This schedule is only for the first day of school.
First-Day Items
Please bring the following items on your childβs first day of school:
o Kβ3: 1 extra shirt, pair of underwear, and pair of socks, all labelled and placed in a labelled bag to be kept at school.
o Kβ7: 1 clean pair of running shoes with non-marking soles to be kept at school. Shoes should be appropriate for P.E. and have Velcro straps if your child cannot tie their shoes independently.
o All students: 1 labelled water bottle that will travel between home and school each day.
o Backpack: Please bring a backpack each day.
**Reminder** label all personal items with your childβs name to help prevent lost or misplaced items.
Please note that the breakfast program will not be available on the first day of school. Also students are expected to remain outside until they are brought inside by their teacher after our check-in on the field.
If you are driving, please use the community hall parking lot for pick up and drop off.
