Before Indiana Jones, there was... Thomas Jefferson? 🏛️
Yes, Jefferson is complicated—enslaver, genius, contradiction. I’m not whitewashing anything.
But here’s the wild part: In the 1780s, before “archaeology” even existed as a field, he was excavating Native American burial mounds using actual scientific methods. He basically invented archaeological technique a century early.
History isn’t clean. The people who shaped it weren’t either. But understanding them—warts and all—matters.
