The NNDSB is proud to partner with Cassellholme in North Bay to provide Personal Support Worker (PSW) training in a living classroom environment at Cassellholme. Participants in the program will complete their theoretical learning in a classroom onsite at Cassellholme. Alongside the classroom learning, students will apply learned skills on the floor of the long-term care home, in an ongoing and relevant way. After successful completion, students will leave the program as a fully qualified PSW.

It is the hope of the Near North District School Board to contribute to both the community and labour market need by helping to fill the growing demand for Personal Support Workers. Through this specialty program, students aged 18 years of age or older can gain the skills, knowledge and training to begin this exciting career path.

Students enrolled in the program will earn up to six high school credits towards the completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Those who already have an OSSD are also eligible and are able to use this opportunity to enhance their learning, moving towards a career, at the end of the program.

Program funding and tuition costs will be subsidized through the Ministry of Health as well as the Ministry of Education, allowing all students who are interested to participate without the need to consider upfront cost.

Spaces are limited, anyone interested should attend one of the two following information sessions:

Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. or Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. Links to our meetings are available in the poster
