Outdoor play is so much more than just having fun.

It engages curiosity, risk-taking, self-knowledge, creativity, balance, gross motor development, critical thinking... and so much more!

I am deeply saddened the Government of BC has ended funding for the Early Childhood Pedagogy Network: Pedagogist Program, as of July. This program was more than mentorship. My time with my current and past programs pedogogist helped me reflect on the children’s experiences and bring meaningful care to families.

For our children’s wellbeing child care cannot continue to be only about spaces or lower fees. If you value small, thoughtful, relationship-based care, I urge you to share your voice in BC’s child care latest consultation opportunity before July 9.

Let’s make sure families keep their choices!

I think Mother’s Day can hold many feelings and many stories. Some children are growing alongside moms, stepmoms (I like to call these people Bonus Moms), grandmas, aunties, foster parents, dads doing both roles, chosen family, or other caring adults who help them feel safe, seen, and loved.

At Pocket Tots, I see every day how important those connections are. The packed lunches, the muddy boots at pick up, the stories about bedtime snuggles after long days, the hard work, the worry, the laughter, the endless showing up. It all matters.

To everyone nurturing, guiding, comforting, encouraging, and loving children in big and small ways, I hope you have a wonderful Happy Mother’s Day!
