🎃 Don't forget! Our Halloween Fundraiser is happening THIS WEEKEND!!

Join us for an afternoon and evening of Halloween fun, laughter, creativity, and community connection!
We have so many wonderful activities planned, including gourd bowling, a cake walk, face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, mystery sensory stations, a haunted house, and so much more!

We'll also have delicious treats, homemade preserves, a silent auction, and plenty of opportunities to support A Taste of Learning!

A huge thank you to Amber Mckee Bruner from Zumba for spending time with our learners and teaching them how to release energy, move their bodies, and have fun through movement! 💃🕺❤️

Zumba gives our learners an opportunity to explore movement in a fun and encouraging environment while building body awareness, coordination, balance, rhythm, and confidence. It also gives them a positive way to release energy, regulate their bodies, follow directions, and express themselves through music and movement.

We are so grateful for the patience, encouragement, and positive energy Amber brings to our learners. Experiences like this help our kids discover new ways to move, connect, and feel good in their bodies. Thank you, Amber, for sharing your time and passion with us! 🌟

Looking for a Compassionate care giver/nurse
I am looking for a kind, compassionate, and dependable care giver/nurse who is available 2–3 evenings per week for approximately 3–4 hour shifts.
Support would be woven into everyday life and may include:
• Medication support
• Preparing meals
• Support with self-care and evening routines
• Getting outside in nature or spending time in the community
• Light cleaning and household maintenance
• Helping with the everyday rhythm of home life
We also have a house full of pets, so being comfortable with animals is important!
More than anything, we are looking for someone who values attunement, connection, trust, and genuine relationship. We don't want support to feel clinical or transactional. We hope to find someone who can naturally fit into daily life—someone who, over time, feels like part of the family and with whom we can build mutual trust and comfort.
If you are someone who is patient, intuitive, compassionate, and enjoys supporting people in a natural, relationship-based way, we would love to hear from you.

🌱🐐 Another wonderful day at Growing Opportunities Farm! 🐐🌱

A huge thank you to Growing Opportunities Farm Community Co-op for welcoming our learners again this week and giving them another opportunity to learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences! 💚

From picking fresh plants and pulling sunflower seeds 🌻, to sorting tomatoes 🍅 and exploring everything the farm has to offer, our learners were able to get involved, use their hands, build new skills, and learn through real-life experiences.

And, of course, visiting the goats is always the fan favourite! 🐐💕 Our learners are always so happy to spend time with them, and it’s such a joy watching the excitement, curiosity, and connection that happens every time.

We are so grateful to be able to work alongside Growing Opportunities Farm and for the welcoming environment they create for our learners. Thank you for continuing to give them space to explore, participate, connect, and learn in such a hands-on and meaningful way! 🌱💚

🧘‍♀️🌿 A huge thank you to Andrew! 🌿🧘‍♂️

We are so grateful to Andrew for spending the last two Thursdays supporting our learners through outdoor yoga! 💚

Our learners had so much fun moving their bodies, connecting with nature, and learning how to move with intention, awareness, and confidence. From pretending to be their favourite animals 🐻🦋🐸🐍 to stretching, balancing, breathing, reaching, and learning different yoga poses, every activity gave them a fun and meaningful way to explore what their bodies can do.

Andrew has such a wonderful way of connecting with our learners. He meets them where they are, encourages them to participate in ways that feel comfortable, celebrates their successes, and makes movement feel fun and accessible. Watching the learners laugh, engage, try new movements, and build confidence over these past two weeks has been so special. 🥰

Thank you, Andrew, for sharing your time, energy, patience, and kindness with our learners. We are so grateful for everything you brought to these two Fridays and for the positive connection you created with our kids! 💚🌿🧘‍♀️

A huge thank you to Pam from Milner Gardens & Woodland for another wonderful hands-on learning experience! 🌱🪱💚

Our learners had the opportunity to get their hands in the soil, learn all about worms, and discover the important role compost plays in helping our gardens grow. Getting to see, touch, explore, and experience these concepts firsthand makes learning so meaningful for our learners.

Hands-on experiences allow our learners to learn at their own pace, engage their senses, build confidence, and make real-world connections that go far beyond a classroom. Watching their curiosity come alive as they explored the soil, worms, and compost was so special! 🌿

We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking person to help with fall garden clean-up and ongoing general property maintenance. We’re hoping to find someone who can come 1–2 days each week consistently, although the specific days and times can be flexible.
You’ll need to be able to transport yourself to and from the property, show up when you say you will, have a strong work ethic, and — importantly — know the difference between a w**d and a plant we’d like to keep! 🌱
We will provide all necessary tools and equipment.

🌱🍓 What a wonderful day at Growing Opportunities Farm Community Co-op! 🍓🌱

Thank you to Growing Opportunities for welcoming us back to the farm and giving our learners another amazing day of hands-on learning and exploring!

Today, our learners got to pick fresh raspberries and strawberries, make our own creations, explore the farm, and see the new sensory garden. 🌿🍓

There is something so special about learning when you can actually touch it, see it, smell it, and experience it for yourself. Our learners were able to learn through doing, exploring at their own pace, and being part of each experience.

Watching the excitement as they picked their own berries, explored the new sensory garden, and discovered something new around every corner made for such a special day. 💚

We are so grateful for opportunities like this that allow our learners to get outside, get their hands dirty, build confidence, and create memories through real-life experiences.

🌿🌊 So lucky to call this beautiful island home! 🌊🌿

We feel incredibly grateful for the endless opportunities our island gives us to get outside, explore, and connect with our learners. From peaceful walks among the trees to feeling the water beneath our feet and the wind on our faces, nature gives us so many beautiful ways to slow down and reconnect. 💚

There is something so special about watching our learners breathe a little deeper, move their bodies, listen to the sounds around them, and simply be. The gentle movement of the water, the rhythm of the wind through the trees, and the natural sounds and textures around us can provide calming sensory input and help support regulation of the nervous system.

These moments outdoors aren’t just walks—they are opportunities for connection, regulation, exploration, confidence, and joy. 🌲🌊🍃

We are so lucky to have such an incredible island playground right outside our door, and even luckier to experience it alongside our learners. 💚✨
