I’m "SEW" excited (see what I did there🪡😉) to be getting ready for a new year of sewing at NATZ Sewing Studio!

These beauties are the new sewing curriculum my students will be working through this year, and I cannot wait to see all the things they create!

There is something so exciting about starting a fresh sewing year… new students, new projects, new skills, and LOTS of fabric. 😉🧵✂️

These quilted shoes are one of the projects I'm most proud of. ❤️

Not because they were easy... but because they taught me patience.

Before I even cut into the fabric, I made a promise to myself: this wasn't going to be a project I rushed through. I gave myself permission to make mistakes. I decided that if something wasn't quite right, I would unpick the stitches, try again, and keep going until it matched the picture I had in my head.

That wasn't always easy. Sometimes it meant slowing down when I really wanted to keep moving. Sometimes it meant undoing work I had already spent time on. But every time I did, the project became a little better.

I think creativity grows when we stop expecting perfection on the first try. The magic often happens in the unpicking, the learning, and the trying again.

I'm so happy with how these turned out, and every stitch reminds me that taking the long way isn't wasting time—it's part of creating something you're truly proud of.

What's a project you've made that taught you patience?

I honestly can't get over the fact I SOLD OUT of our Axolotl sewing camp!! 🥹. I am thrilled that so many people are excited about learning to sew!

I haven't even posted about what the Axolotl campers are going to create. So here are the 3 projects an axolotl stuffy of course, a multi coloured tote and a water bottle holder. Each camper will be making one of these in different colour ways of their choice while supplies last.

We are using some beginner patterns from Kids Can Sew | Sewing Curriculum and I know we will all have so much fun.

I wanted to show off the projects, that those who sign up for our lemonade stand sewing camp July 21-23 will be making. Each student will be going home with a cute lemon pillow, apron and water bottle holder. For size reference I have a 24oz Starbucks tumbler in my water bottle holder!

I have been overwhelmed by the positive response for my sewing classes and camps. It was scary to put it out there so thank you everyone for your excitement and encouragement!!!

After taking more than a few days 😜 to clean the sewing studio I planned a photoshoot. Haha. Not to document such a feat, although 🤔 maybe next time I should do that. Haha. I did it because I am finally ready to launch my Children and Teens sewing classes along with my website!! I am excited and totally 😅 full of so many different emotions. I have been thinking about teaching sewing lessons for about 12 years. It took me that long to get over the fear and feeling of inadequacy. Then it took me another few years to make a website and get the nerve to launch it. So here we are. I did it. Totally freaking out and absolutely excited to share my love of sewing. It has been such a positive creative outlet for myself and I know it will be for others.

Last year on Mother's Day I had the privilege of watching my daughter graduate from Highschool. The ceremony was a lot of fun and very special being able to celebrate along with family and some other homeschool graduates.

What else made it special was the lead up to it. Nevaeh really wanted to make her own graduation dress. Unfortunately time did not allow her to do it on her own as she hoped so I got the privilege to do it for her. Nevaeh helped were she could and modeled A LOT through the process.

There wasn't a pattern for her dream dress so I got to have fun making it for her. There were many hours spent making samples before we started on the real dress. The samples were also part of making our own patterns too. I started with finding a free bustier pattern as I have never made one before I needed something to start with. I found one that worked great and then was able to make the adjustments we needed to make the dress Nevaeh dreamed of.

Most busier patterns were zippered backs, but we were wanting the lace up kind. We experimented with how to make one of those and I am not going to lie there was A LOT of seam ripping and redoing of the same thing, but we did get there. Eventually. Then once we figured out how to make a strapless lace up bustier we had to figure out how to make a layer on top that sort of looked like a halter top. She wanted that part to tie up at the shoulders in a bow that would have long flowy ends.

That was the first step. I think that took us about a month to figure out. After that was the tough part of trying to find fabric she liked for the dress. And that unfortunately was not an easy task.

Here it is, my !!! It only took me 33 days to purge, sort and reorganize 25 shelves, 43 drawers, 5 cupboards, 10 baskets and a china cabinet(not pictured). I guess when I layout the numbers it is easier to understand why it took me 33 days. I have been in this space for about 5 years. Lots of changes have happened over those years.
My children have grown up so much so all the little crafty things they used to use are no longer used by teenagers. Haha.
I also used to do a lot of paper crafting and less sewing now I do more sewing than paper crafts. So I needed to switch things up and really decide what was relevant to how I would use the space now.
Every surface was piling up with stuff. A few years ago I lost my two grandmother's and my mother in law in just over one year. It was a lot and I also was blessed with some of their sewing notions and fabrics. With it all coming into my space I had no idea where to put it so yarn, ribbon buttons, snaps and such were in multiple locations.

Now after all the work this last month everything has been placed in it's newly organized home. I LOVE my .
