14 years ago, I laced up my shoes and went for my first run.
Not to say I hadn't run or excersied before. But this run was different. I wasn't trying to burn calories or create a deficit. I wasn't punishing my body. I wasn't using "healthy habits" as a way to feed a raging eating disorder.
It was intentional.
I wanted to be a runner.
I wanted to feel strong and capable.
I wanted to show up as my best self for me and my babies.
14 years later - I thought I'd be better than I am. I thought there would be more consistency.
14 years later - I look back and see everything life has brought me. Another baby. Divorce. Marriage. Multiple career changes. Starting (and closing) a business. 10 moves in 4 states and 2 countries. And every bad, good, hard, easy moment you could imagine in between.
14 years later - I may still be an average runner (at best), and I'm not winning any races (v disappointing), but I am better.
I am stronger.
I am capable.
And I know no matter what life throws at me, I will show up, I will make it through, I will be more than ok.
And I'll probably go for a run.
