Harriet Tubman Nature Quest

In her upcoming book “With Nature as Our Witness: How America’s Enslaved Ancestors Found the Love of Earthly Being” she tells the story of “the enslaveds’ contributions to the U.S. nature narrative and how their legacy prepares us for our time of environmental upheaval.”

Dr. Ruffin has done extensive research of oral histories from the formerly enslaved and explores the deep relationships between enslaved peoples and nature, the wisdom and resourcefulness born from that relationship, and its relevance for the ecological and social crises facing us today.
