SSMU Gendered and Sexual Violence Prevention
This institution is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanien'keha:ka, or the Mohawk people, a place which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst nations. We recognize and respect the Kanien'keha:ka as the traditional keeper of the lands and waters on which we meet today.
This policy was developed over a period of five months by a coordinator and student advisors who have extensive experience in the field of sexual violence, campus policies and survivor support services. In addition to their experience, they conducted extensive consultation with various stakeholders from as many McGill student communities and administrative offices as possible. We are proud to have created a policy that is holistic, intersectional and survivor-centric. The work of the SSMU Anti-Violence Coordinators and committee members is to continue this work and ensure that the policy is consistently upheld within the SSMU context. We are here for you and believe you.
