Ok, we admit, the syntax of this Ralph Waldo Emerson quote would likely confuse your English language learners more than inspire them, but the heart of it is beautiful! Languages are living, growing, evolving creations of our communities.
How often do you have to say something like, "You *can* say it that way, but we don't really say that anymore," to your students?
What are some outdated words or expressions your language learners have brought to the classroom? And inversely, how do you keep up with the new vocabulary your students bring to the classroom?
