Tai Chi, as it is practiced in the west today, can perhaps best be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation. Many of the movements were originally derived from the martial arts and from the natural movements of birds and animals. Tai Chi is performed slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth and even transitions between the movements. The practice of TC promotes a physically way to respond to stress.
Beginners will be taught the 24 empty hand forms and 22 lotus fan. Further courses in sword and longer forms are possible. Heather MacDow began her study of Yang Tai Chi in2000 under the guidance of Sifu K.C. Wong. She also studied White Crane Kung Fu for 6 yearswith Sifu Lorne Bernard in Montreal. Ms. MacDow also continues to study the Wu and Chen Family Styles of Tai Chi.
