PRO-AUTISM stands for Prioritize remediation of Autism

I use the RDI(R) Program to work with families of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (including PDD-NOS, Aspergers Syndrom). RDI(R) is a 3rd generation autism treatment program that focuses on remediating the core deficits of autism that have to do with dynamic intelligence. RDI stands for Relationship Development Intervention and is based on the most recent research from the fields of autism and child development.

When I read articles, whether it's theory or intervention or whatever, there isn't a single article that talks about developmental progression. Instead, when you look at all the intervention theories about how you should work with autistic people, the researchers take a group of people, (who might have a similar age or might not) with no regard at all for their developmental goals, no regard for what prior foundations are in place or what is even needed for each person to individually succeed in the world. There is no background on the individuals motivation, ability or habits. None of those things. It's like the development aspect just doesn't exist. It's like you can take a group of unique individuals, disregard their personal development and just throw something at them for a few weeks or months, or whatever, and expect to get results. In autism, the research community has failed miserably to address development and the real developmental needs of the population, regardless of their age.
