Tips to keep your toddler from running away— from a speech therapist! So often toddlers don’t follow directions because they don’t understand (or its presented in a negative way instead of a connective way!) I hear parents tell me all the time “My child knows but he just doesnt listen” but when we teach the skill, we realize he didn’t actually know! I am a strong believer of teaching a skill explicitly before we expect the child to do it in an emergency situation.
