Hi! I'm thrilled to be your VP Events this year. I'll help organize events and make sure they run smoothly (zoom should make my life easy...). I joined CANFAR McGill because I strongly believe that the best way to deal with HIV/AIDS is to educate, and fund research into cures and treatments. CANFAR McGill aims to accomplish both of these goals, and I can't wait to get started!!

As of last year, there were 38 million people worldwide living with HIV according to the World Health Organization. In Canada, HIV affects 63,000 people today. This yearβs World AIDS Day calls for increased attention to global solidarity and shared responsibility in our efforts against HIV. The COVID-19 pandemic is threatening access to crucial prevention, treatment, and care services needed. Without solidarity in our public health response, the risk of HIV resurgence is greatly heightened.

Welcome to McGill for CANFAR page!
As an organization, our mission is to promote awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Canada, while also fundraising to increase prevention, testing, treatment, and linkage to care. Unlike other G7 countries, Canada is not seeing a reduction in the number of new people being diagnosed with HIV, despite significant investment in the past. HIV/AIDS continues to disproportionately affect marginalized populations in our community. By coming together, we believe that we can bend the curve within the next five years, and help create a world where new cases of HIV are a rare event.
