UPDATED (Aug 21)

Hello! Quick update on the IATEC program. MLCN have been waiting for the contract to be sent from the university. We are now looking at a start date of September 14th or the 21st at the latest.

Applicants are starting to receive their acceptance letters from the University of Regina. Please, check the student portal - An email should have been sent to you with the link to access the portal.

For the applicants that need to send for your transcripts, you still a bit of time to have this completed! Please have this completed by the end of next week. We need to put together the student list to get the final numbers for preparation.

The Indigenous Access Transition to Education Certificate (IATEC) is coming to Montreal Lake Cree Nation starting September 2026!
This 8-month, 24-credit program, offered through the First Nations University of Canada, is designed to help students build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in university—while staying close to home.

IATEC is similar to an University Entrance Program and provides a strong foundation for future studies. Courses may include:

- Math
- Biology or Chemistry
- Indigenous Studies or Indigenous Health
- Indigenous Social Work
- English
- Reading & Writing

This program is an excellent pathway for anyone looking to transition into university-level education in a supportive and culturally relevant environment.

The IATEC program, that is an 8-month program being offered in Montreal Lake by the First Nations University (U of R), will have a tentative start date of September 1, 2026. Currently, we have 26 applicants who have submitted their application to the university. I have sent out emails to the ones where they university is still requiring documents to be submitted. Please have the documents sent in by July 31st, if possible. If you require assistance, please come to the Post Secondary Building. If you have applied and have not received any emails from the university or from Post Secondary, you may be on the list of applicants where the university is just waiting for the contract to be signed,
