Living in Canada, I have many regrets

This is the career I left in the Philippines to pursue opportunities in a foreign land

I was the Country Manager for Razer’s PH entity
I led a team with the execs cheering for our success
We hosted big events for several international brands

Had a stable career and finances. I couldn’t ask for more.

But in 2021, life made a 180-turn and sent me flying to Canada

4.5 years later…

I run my own small startup
Met new and genuine friends in Ontario & Alberta
I serve as a volunteer for the community
I am fully covered with universal healthcare

4.5 years in, that’s when I realized, life can actually be fulfilling

That your value is never equal to what you materially possess, or the sales targets you hit

It’s the little things you can contribute to the community
It’s how you become an instrument for someone else’s success or happiness
It’s the unwavering trust you put in someone that will boost their confidence
It’s in supporting others to help them become committed to their dreams

My regret is: Why am I only doing this now, in a foreign land even, and not when I had a great career in PH?

You see, life is full of twists and turns

But when you condition your mind into turning challenges into opportunities

That’s when you realize that life is more than the glitz and glamour

That you can actually thrive in giving back to the community first

By advocating for someone else first

It’s breaking out from the “What’s in it for me?” mindset that will free us from the material world that chained us
