The votes are in, and Sheridan students have elected Toastmaster Rhema Javed as their Student Governor for the September 2022 school year 🗳️🎉🏫

Rhema is a leader on campus & at Sheridan Toastmasters and now will have the opportunity to lead as our representative in the school government as well 🌟👩🏽‍🎓💼

Rhema is an excellent role model for all students and will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the college community. We wish you all the best in your new role! 💛🌠🤗

Peace during difficult times in the world can be hard to come by, but it is something that we can all strive for 🕊️🎯

The Dalai Lama said, “Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts; differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means; through dialogue, education, knowledge; and through humane ways.” ☸️💬📖

At Toastmasters our club's goal is personal growth, but we also hope to be able to bring our new-found confidence out into the world and make it a better place 🌐💛

This meeting's format will revolve around the theme of peace. We will have speeches, impromptu speaking, and table topics based on the topic of peace 🎙️☮️

Speaking off-the-cuff happens more often than just formal speeches. Some times you might find yourself using this skill include in job interviews and presentations, meeting new people and speaking with your friends 📣🏢🗨️

One way to prepare for the unexpected is by practicing improvising 🔁🔁🔁

At Sheridan Toastmasters, you learn to improvise by taking part in impromptu speaking activities. You might be surprised at how much it can improve your thinking on the spot and listening skills too 💡
