Last week we learned how to **FUEL the adventure** — with camp cooking, trail snacks, and food to keep us moving outside. This week, we’re getting creative and **CRAFTING our way through the adventure!**

Nature Next Door is back this Sunday at the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers Market , and this week we’re exploring the outdoors through arts, crafts, and creativity.

We’ll get hands-on with nature-inspired crafts, explore our creativity, and make something of our own to take home. Expect plenty of making, experimenting, and outdoor-inspired fun!

You already belong in nature. The skills can come next.

This weekend, Thunder is excited to be headed to Cape Breton with the volunteer instructor team at Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) to co-lead an Intro to Camping and overnight backpacking experience.

BOW has been running in Nova Scotia since 1997, creating opportunities for women to try outdoor activities, learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with a welcoming community of people learning alongside one another.
That makes this partnership feel pretty close to home for us.

At Ferro & Tide, we believe outdoor skills shouldn’t feel like something you have to already know before you’re “allowed” to belong outside. We work to create opportunities for folks to learn, ask questions, try things out, make mistakes, build confidence, and discover what they’re capable of, all in spaces where they feel supported along the way.

Programs like BOW help make outdoor recreation more accessible and achievable by fostering these kinds of intentional spaces…Because you don’t need to be an “outdoorsy person” to thrive in nature.

Another awesome market day!

Yesterday we had lots of chats about FUEL 🍎⚡💪 and the outdoor gear that can help us cook our favourite trail meals or snacks.

Next Sunday is our last Nature Next Door drop-in outdoor learning program at the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers Market , so please come say hi if you haven’t had a chance to catch us yet.

One of the best parts of the past few weeks has been the conversations we’ve had with our community! We love to hear how you enjoy nature on the Eastern Shore, and how we can support you to do more of that.

Need a little kid-free time to wander the Market? We’ve got you! 🛍️

Nature Next Door is our new drop-in outdoor learning series in partnership with the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers Market: kids can hang out with Ferro & Tide for some hands-on learning and adventure while their grown-ups shop, grab a coffee, visit the vendors, and enjoy the Market.

This Sunday, we NAVIGATE! 🗺️🧭📌

We’ll explore maps, learn some basic compass skills, practice finding our bearings, and put it all together with a mini Market navigation challenge.

Drop in anytime during the Market. Pay what you can, with no registration required. Parents/caregivers just need to remain onsite while kids are signed in with us.

Ferro & Tide staff are experienced outdoor leaders with current first aid training, Police Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Checks, and training in outdoor risk management. We keep our groups small, activities age-appropriate, and safety and belonging at the center of everything we do - giving kids space to explore and build confidence, with thoughtful supervision along the way.

Nature is right outside your front door.

Every Sunday this month, we are partnering with Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers Market for “Nature Next Door”. Kids of all ages can drop-in for hands-on outdoor discoveries and skills.

Today we were tying knots, putting up tarps, and building mini shelters. Next week, we will be in navigation mode with maps, compasses, and a mini market challenge.

Parents/caregivers: this is for you too! Join your kids and youth at our booth, or pay-what-you-can for childcare while you shop the market. All proceeds will be donated to the market’s Nourishing Families program.

Because the Shore belongs in nature too.

Nature Next Door kicks off THIS SUNDAY at the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers Market!

This week, we’re embracing the wet weather with some hands-on outdoor skills: kids can learn a few useful knots, experiment with tarps, and discover how to build a cozy shelter from the rain.

Drop in anytime between 10am–2pm. Kids explore and learn while you shop!

No registration required. Pay what you can - cash, card, e-transfer, market bucks.
