Healing doesn't always happen in an office. Sometimes it begins on the water.

We're proud to share this incredible, fully funded 4 day kayak adventure therapy program from our friends at and Free Range Consulting. If you know a male-identified person (18-30) dealing with addictions, please take a look and help spread the word. We know the team behind this program and can't recommend them highly enough.

From exploring the shoreline to discovering fascinating marine life, our campers have been asking questions, making discoveries, connecting with the land, and getting their hands dirty in the best way possible.

Perfect for curious kids ages 5–12, this week is all about becoming beach detectives. Campers will:
🦀 Explore tide pools and discover the creatures that call them home.
🔎 Learn how to identify species using observation and field guides.
🌿 Investigate different coastal habitats like kelp forests, eelgrass beds, and rocky shores.
🪨 Discover the unique geology of the Eastern Shore.
🎨 Create their own intertidal organism and species ID cards while building observation and critical thinking skills they'll use long after camp.

Every day is filled with hands-on STEAM learning, outdoor adventure, and plenty of opportunities to ask, "Why does this live here?"

He reflected on lessons learned from a recent course that included some communication challenges.

🌊 Yesterday, we kicked off Wild Islands Seaside Discovery, and what an incredible first day it was!
The day was filled with curiosity, exploration, laughter, and meaningful connections as our young ocean stewards immersed themselves in hands-on learning about the marine environment. From discovering coastal ecosystems to working together and asking thoughtful questions, campers embraced every opportunity to learn through experience.
At Wild Islands Seaside Discovery, we believe stewardship begins with connection. By exploring the ocean with curiosity and respect, our youth are developing the knowledge, confidence, and sense of responsibility to care for the waters that connect us all.
A heartfelt thank you to our campers, families, and our wonderful partner Eastern Shore Ocean Discovery Centre for making our first day such a memorable success. We're excited to continue this journey of exploration and discovery throughout the week.

This weekend, another part of Ferro & Tide comes to life. 👽🏳️‍🌈⛺

Thunder is honoured to be supporting Petite Q***r Pride (PQP) ALIENATION After Dark event, helping bring together the behind-the-scenes pieces that make a community event possible.

From site planning and accessibility to power, camping, logistics, safety, and risk management, much of this work happens long before the first guest arrives.

At Ferro & Tide, we love creating our own outdoor programs, but we're just as passionate about partnering with organizations and communities to help bring their visions to life. We believe that thoughtful planning, strong safety systems, and caring logistics create the conditions for belonging, making outdoor spaces more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

We were so lucky to spend the day on the water last week with our community at the Musquodoboit River Social Paddle, organized by the Musquodoboit Valley Communities Association and the Elderbank Recreation Club, with logistics and rentals provided by Musquodoboit Valley Outfitters .

The day started with a delicious breakfast at Elderbank Provincial Park before we launched, and wrapped up at Dave's Landing with some fantastic BBQ sausage to celebrate the journey.

The weather kept us guessing, with passing showers and the occasional rumble of thunder in the distance, but for the most part we were treated to sunshine, calm waters, and the peaceful beauty of the Musquodoboit River as it made its way toward the sea.
With more than 60 people paddling everything from kayaks and canoes to paddleboards, it was wonderful to share not only the river, but plenty of conversations, laughs, and new memories along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who organized this incredible community event and gave us the opportunity to be a part of it. If you've been thinking about joining a paddle like this, be sure to keep an eye on Musquodoboit Valley Outfitters—I heard whispers there may be another one before summer comes to an end, and you won't want to miss it!

Week 2 (July 20-24) of Wild Islands Seaside Discovery STEAM summer camp series is for the animal lovers, the nature protectors, the “save the ocean!” kids.

In Guardians, campers explore:
- marine creatures, such as invertebrates, fish, birds, seaweed, and mammals
- what animals need to survive
- threats to species on the Eastern Shore and beyond
- protection of these creatures

This week helps kids feel empowered, capable, and connected to the natural world.
