Wonderful new book by the remarkable Jordan Abel.
Told in the style of brief musings and anecdotes interspersed with artwork by Abel’s father, the book coheres into a tender, frank, and joyful portrait of what it means to him to be a dad. Read the full review here: https://bit.ly/4cWwxBD

Write women; speak up, speak back and speak out!
Words at Work: Stories as "Equipment for Living" started today with an amazing group of participants! So many thought-provoking gems in our discussion about the creativity and knowledge daughters receive from creative mothers. Here's a little poem about women's creativity and truth called "Motherroot"by Cherokee poet, Marilou Awaikta. This poem opens Alice Walker's beautiful little essay "In Search of Our Mothers' Gardens"
Mother Root
Creation often
needs two hearts
one to root
and one to flower
One to sustain
in time of drouth
and hold fast
against winds of pain
the fragile bloom
that in the glory
of its hour
affirms a heart
unsung, unseen
Cherokee poet Marilou Awiakta
