Maple Creek, like many rural communities, continues to face a shortage of licensed childcare spaces. Limited access makes it difficult for parents to return to work and places added strain on local families and businesses.
Through community collaboration led by residents and Co-operatives First, a new licensed childcare co-operative is being developed in partnership with the Town, Rural Municipality, and Nekaneet First Nation. This initiative will help create new childcare spaces, strengthening early learning access for Maple Creek and surrounding areas.

Meet Rachelle Brace, Assistant Director of the Maple Creek Childcare Cooperative!

Rachelle is excited to serve as the Assistant Director of the Maple Creek Childcare Cooperative. She grew up in Medicine Hat in a family deeply involved in early childhood education, which helped inspire her passion for the field. With approximately 10 years of hands-on experience working with children, she brings valuable knowledge and dedication to her role.

Rachelle is the proud mother of a young son and has called Maple Creek home for the past six years. Outside of work, she enjoys expressing her creativity through painting, knitting, and sewing. She also loves camping and spending time outdoors, making the most of everything nature has to offer.

Rachelle looks forward to supporting the children, families, and staff of the Cooperative and helping create a positive and nurturing environment for the community.

EXCITING NEWS!

Meet Becky Newby, Centre Director.

Becky Newby's career path has been anything but traditional. She has worked in hospitality, retail, customer service, and physical labour, gaining valuable experience along the way. However, it wasn't until she became known as "Teacher Becky" that she discovered her passion for working with children. This inspired her to pursue Early Childhood Education, and she is currently completing her Level 3 certification through Great Plains College.

Becky has worked as an Educational Assistant at Sidney School and has also supported students in the Early Childhood Education program at the community college.

Passionate about personal growth and lifelong learning, Becky brings enthusiasm, dedication, and energy to her work. She is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Board of Directors, whose vision and commitment have made this childcare centre a reality. Becky is excited to help bring that vision to life and looks forward to serving the children and families of the community.

Please help us in welcoming Becky to the team - we are excited to have her on board to assist with centre preparations, final touches and hiring of centre staff in the coming months.
