A cesarean birth is still a birth. 🤍
And yet—so often, birthing people are left alone during some of the most vulnerable moments of the entire experience.
When a spinal is being placed…
When the room is being prepped…
When they’re lying there, exposed, unsure, and waiting…
Partners are usually not allowed in yet.
Which means they’re surrounded by medical staff—but without their person. Without emotional support. Without grounding.
Even when everything goes smoothly, many describe feeling incredibly vulnerable—lying on a table, partially undressed, medicated, and waiting while everything is set up around them.
This matters.
Because birth isn’t just about outcomes—it’s about experience.
Doulas are trained to provide continuous emotional support, advocacy, and reassurance. We help clients feel seen, safe, and informed—especially in moments where things can feel overwhelming or out of their control.
Allowing doulas into the OR (when possible and appropriate) isn’t about replacing medical care—it’s about complementing it.
It’s about humanizing birth.
It’s about making sure no one feels alone on that table.
We can do better—and we should be advocating for it. 🤍
