Thanks to Pam Harrisonfor asking for this share in raising awareness. This disease can hit the young and the old, as we're experiencing with our Dad in my family and who has lived to a ripe, old 89 years; and Pam with her much, much younger husband. My add to this would be with awareness, we can be pro-active in the choices we make in our lifestyles in warding off such diseases. Check out the book .
It's called the long goodbye. Rapidly shrinking brain is how a doctor described it. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are and become less themselves. Patients can eventually become bedridden, unable to move & unable to eat or drink or talk to their loved ones.
There will be people who will scroll by this message because Dementia or Alzheimer's has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has fought or is fighting a battle against Dementia or Alzheimer's.
In an effort to raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like to see at least 5 of my friends put this on your timeline.

I love it… may we be more vulnerable and accepting of the times we need a push, or a hug 🤗 and give ourselves permission to ask for Help or "have our own backs"!
I recently exercised this muslce in ... my 88 year old Dad took a fall from an infection and a failing heart just before Christmas. We've been on respite type care since, and as grateful as I am for our Canadian healthcare, the shortage of nursing and care aids in our hospitals is atrocious and a ripple effect of and in our systems worldwide.
It's been almost 3 weeks of non-stop care and the and physical toll are setting in on me personally. I feel like an engine revving on high gear keeping up, and with Christmas as well. I was teed up to facilitate a 6 week training (a new engagement as well and materials which made the personal pressure even greater) starting next Monday and gracefully (with the support of a dear colleague and friends support and coaching Nimrat Dhariwal) bowed out only 8 days from the engagement. I needed to help myself, I needed to accept I'm not the best Leader I can be to facilitate other professionals on their journey.
What's an act of or you can give yourself in support of your life, showing up as your best self, for the sake of your relationships both personally and professionally?
May 2023 bring you Joy and may it also you in the uncomfortable ways that will serve you on this ride called life!

Horses love puddles too and notice the directness of the request to “let me in buddy”! Horses don’t mince their words like we often do.

Thank you Charlie Mackesy for your work, your words...they ring so true. I believe we witnessed and felt LOVE at work this past week.
Horses teach from their whole being and heart. They do not know hate as a species. It doesn't mean they haven't been impacted by it or experienced trauma, usually at the hands of people, yet they heal and recover to leading from energy instinctually infused with LOVE (heart based energy) for the sake of survival of the whole. They choose relationship over territory ♥
May we share and show more LOVE for one another, despite our differences and for the sake of our diversity!

As part of my ongoing growth and learning I'm going to be co-facilitating, FREE, online a 7 week program entitled "Healing our Broken World" with Laurie Anderson starting early February. It combines the process developed by Otto Schumer and with the studies of Anti-Racism. It also integrates 3 interrelated components: Building Trust, Building Awareness and Building the Future as part of our process. It's an opportunity to learn about Anti-Racism thropugh an experiential format and part of a study group.
If there is anyone you think may be interested in this "mini journey" please PM me or put us in contact through FB or my email [email protected].
Thank you!

Let me share why the work I do with the horses is so profound as it relates to growing us in our emotional intelligence, or biodiversity as a friend recently put it; feeling our feelings.
- The reason the horse can become such a gifted teacher is because he does not need or have an inner voice. He does not think in words at all. He feels!
- He energetically sees and feels you.
- The horses know there is nothing broken within us or YOU.
- He's profoundly curious and he genuinely wants to help.
As leaders emotional growth or learning to feel our emotions is our way forward, together. It's accessible only through learning to give ourselves permission to feel (read: a new leadership skillset and practice) and then seeing over and over again the emotional arousal this brings with new eyes.
As quoted by Rumi...Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. The horses and I will meet you there.
Together lets continue to change!

If you haven't been exposed to the work of Keepers from Charlie Mackesy, listen to Charlie's interview on CBS. He's just like you and me, he's normal and he's devoted his life expressing his artwork through feeling, and each drawing is inspired from that place, a feeling rooten in lessons in kindness and humanity. It's about YOU and for YOU. He's one of my hero's.... and the horse, the boy and the mole ♥
Charlie Mackesy's lessons in kindness Through his whimsical sketches and his characters' simple, yet sage, advice, British artist Charlie Mackesy manages to distill what's most important about life, including kindness, empathy, perseverance and love. He talks with correspondent Seth Doane about his surprise bestseller, "The Boy, the Mol...
