Stages for Babies (0-12 months)
Communication is important to a baby's development. While they can't yet talk, babies (0 to 12 months old) are sensitive to your voice and touch.
0 to 3 MONTH
Raises head and lifts chin when lying on stomach. Begins to smile at others' faces
Explores with the mouth and hands
3 to 6 MONTH
Rolls or wiggles toward toys. Begins to imitate facial expressions and sounds
Begins to communicate more with face and body
6 to 12 MONTH
Crawls, pulls self to stand, and may start walking. Anxious or shy with strangers
Says a few words.
Speaking to them often and holding them gently lets babies know that they are not alone and helps them feel secure
