Freestyle Friday:

Unearthed from storage, my first band ever back in 2005 was called Seiryu.

While still in high school, learning and playing with my first ever drumset, we had no idea how to record or what we were doing, but damn did we enjoy it and have fun...

This is one of many songs that we wrote that never even got the the vocal stage, out of tune guitars, drums out of sync, and all beginners to music, but huge fans nonetheless.

Nostalgia's a fun thing everyone, don't dread on the past, enjoy the great times you did have, and celebrate how you have grown and where you are now. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Death From Above 1979 released their new album 'Is 4 Lovers' this past weekend off of the success of their newest single 'One + One'.

While it might not have the rocking ferocity of their previous releases, there is a maturity in their style and songwriting, exploring a more pop-sided approach for the album.

The sheer talent that this 2-piece band can play, sing, and reproduce live is amazing. Be sure to check it out!

Wishlist Wednesday:

Hey everyone! I have a bunch of fun little items today, mainly focusing on percussion accessories, so let's get to it!

First up is the Meinl Percussion Foot Tambourine, a fun little add-on for $15 that can add a nice layer of jingle to your hand drum playing or even left foot hi-hat work on a kit!

Next is the Meinl Percussion Cajon Foot Tambourine, while similar to the first item, coming in at $20, it has an extra tambourine and a different layout and tone, more complementary to Cajon playing.

Next is the Meinl Percussion Foot Shaker, coming in at $17, this has that classic egg shaker sound that fits and plays really easily, freeing up a hand for your playing needs.

The Gibraltar Hardware Beat EFX is a really cool addition for your bass drum pedal, easily attach to your existing bass drum be**er, you can add a finger cymbal, tambourine, or shaker sound to your bass drum, or any combination of two/three for 7 possible sound options! Coming in a little more expensive than the other items today, the ~$45 price tag is comparable for three items in one package.

Lastly is the Meinl Percussion Hi-Hat Tambourine, easily attach to your hi hat stand above your cymbals, you can hear it every foot press or even use your sticks on ir for some added elements for your drum playing.

All of today's items are in-stock at the local Long & McQuade (Kingston) and feature some fun layers added to any type of playing. I look forward to trying out the foot shaker myself for my Cajon setup, maybe you will see it in a video to come soon!
